Reviews Summary
Araka offers a unique fine-dining experience with creative Turkish-inspired dishes, lauded for its fresh ingredients and artistic presentation. While many praise the innovative flavors and ambiance, some find the prices high for the portion sizes and occasionally note inconsistencies in seasoning.
"It was a great dinner! We got a tailor-made tasting menu because my boyfriend is allergic to fish and I am vegetarian. Excellent service and ambience. The location was well curated with taste, but yet super-welcoming."
Eleonora Lolli
"Very underwhelming for a Michelin-starred restaurant. The prices and the star demand a higher standard across every dimension.
The dishes were balanced, but they lacked excitement and failed to stand out. The persistent chlorophyll aroma in every dish became repetitive rather than intriguing. Unless you’re specifically seeking this flavor profile, you’re likely to leave disappointed."

"My first one star Michelin experience. I paid ca $85 for three courses: A beetroot soup, grilled octopus with shrimp bisque and chocolate cake and mousse. The sum is a bit more than I pay for a five course meal at decent restaurants in Norway.
Considering this I found the experience a bit expensive even though it is a step up. The dishes were full of original while balanced flavors. The detailed fermented goat cheese cream touched the beautifully colored beetroot soup just perfectly. The octopus was flawlessly grilled, full of flavor without any fuzz. The shrimp bisque was an ocean of flavor. The chocolate cake was a bit disappointing, though. The slightly sharp cognac, ginger and sweet chocolate mousse was a great contrast to the more refined cacao centered cake. However, I still felt I could have expected more."

Istanbul's best places for breakfast
Some of you might remember Cihan Kıpçak from the fine-dining restaurant Gile, as well as from the gastro-pub Akali, which he opened with his older brother Çağlar. Now the duo has changed course for Galata, where they’ve opened their new bistro named Araka. Located behind the concept store selfestate, Araka serves a daily menu that Cihan Kıpçak defines as “light dishes with modern touches.” The bistro doesn’t yet have a bread oven, so for the time being, all of the breads are transported from Akali and paired with fillers like turkey ham, Emmental cheese and the Tunisian hot chili pepper paste harissa.
