Reviews Summary

Hocapaşa Pidecisi is celebrated for its authentic, wood-fired Turkish pide, with generous portions and reasonable prices for the area. Diners frequently praise the delicious flavors and the visual appeal of watching the pide being made. While some note it can get crowded and isn't the absolute cheapest in Istanbul, the overall experience is highly recommended for a taste of local tradition.

"Prepare your taste buds for an authentic Turkish delight! This family-run business serves up the most amazing Turkish pide, made fresh right before your eyes. Think of it as a Turkish pizza, but so much more! The dough is perfectly baked, the toppings are flavorful and the whole thing is served piping hot. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite. It's clear they take pride in making their pide authentically, and the result is simply delicious. If you're looking for a taste of Turkey that's both comforting and exciting, this is the place to go! Highly recommended.

And to complete the perfect Turkish experience, we finished off with steaming cups of traditional Turkish chai. It was the ideal way to warm our hands and hearts as we watched the snow gently fall outside. The rich, aromatic tea was the perfect ending to our delicious pide meal, adding a touch of cozy tranquility to a truly memorable experience. It was a beautiful, authentic moment, and a testament to the warm hospitality of this wonderful family-run business."

"Excellent pide in the heart of Istanbul. Not the best pide we had during our few days in town, but definitely worth the visit. Great spot to sit and watch the world go by as well."

Sam Valtenbergs

"This was my second time coming here (after a local friend recommended this place to me) and I was happy to see it's still a great place to eat pide in the "centre" of Istanbul.
The staff doesn't speak much english but make an effort to communicate and the pide maker is incredibly nice: he even let me watch him make our order which was so fun!
The pides were around 200-300 tl each (which right now corresponds to 4-6€).
I would definitely recommend if you want a taste of local turkish food."

Top Pide (“Turkish Pizza”) Spots of Istanbul

It would not be fair to not start this list with Hocapaşa Pidecisi, not because I think they are the best, but because they are what most travellers will end up running into in many other lists like this, and likely on their way as they wander around Sultanahmet. Given its location and age, it is one of the best but also the priciest joints on this list. Credit where credit’s due though, despite its much higher price tag, Hocapaşa Pidecisi also bakes the biggest pide I had in 2023, so they are certainly giving you your money’s worth.
