Reviews Summary

Pandeli Restaurant offers a unique dining experience with its stunning historic ambiance and traditional Turkish cuisine. While many praise the atmosphere and the authenticity of the dishes, some find the portions small and the prices high for the quality. Service is generally noted as efficient and friendly, though consistency can vary. Reddit+7

"What a great place to have lunch/dinner.
We were very welcomed without reservation, the place looks magical with the blue tiles and the soft lights.
Beautiful view over the city and a great temperature inside.
My girlfriend had the sea-brass and i had the lamb shank.
Unfortunately i couldn’t make a picture of the chef or the kitchen but i know it has to be a beautiful sight."

Tom Schouten

"Right on top of the Istanbul’s Spice Bazaar.
You can tell this is a traditional beautiful place where a lot of generations have visited and had great meals in there.

The food was incredibly delicious but the portions were really small. We ordered two main dishes, two entrees and 1 dessert for 4 people and it wasn’t enough.
The flan like milk dessert made with chicken breasts is surprisingly good."

Sofia Flores Camargo

"The restaurant is known for its Michelin recognition, but I don’t see it. I genuinely believe your money will be better spent elsewhere. 🤷🏻‍♀️
❌Food is overpriced. 400 Turkish lira for six pieces of ridiculous. Also the small plate with 5-6 pieces of kebab was 900 TL which is a joke.
❌Waiters mixed up my order and brought a different salad.
❌When booking I requested a table by the window which wasn’t provided. We asked for a different table and they declined. An empty table next to the window was available during the whole time of our dinner."

Heritage Restaurants

Around the turn of the century, Pandeli, the son of a Greek shepherd from Niğde, moved to Istanbul and started what was to become a legendary culinary career. After working odd jobs as a dishwasher and a barber’s apprentice, Pandeli began selling piyaz (bean and onion salad) and köfte (meatballs) in the vicinity of where he would later open his eponymous restaurant. After half a century of operating eateries across Istanbul, Pandeli opened his current restaurant on the upper floor above the entrance of the Spice Bazaar, a location allocated to him by order of the state after his previous restaurant was looted during the 6-7 September pogrom of 1955.
