"Very nice small Meyhanesi, on a quiet side street. There is no menu, the owner speaks a little English, the server did not. It is customary to order Raki to drink (pour some into you glass then add ice a a splash of water).
They bring you a number of appetizers which you can choose from. Then the owner asked me beef, lamb, cheese? I said lamb no cheese.
In the end I got my 3 appetizers, toasted bread, raki, salgam (fermented carrot drink), the most delicious and juicy lamb kabobs, and a Turkish coffee to top it off. Total cost was 650tl (about $35 US- the raki was 1/3 of the bill) which is way more than any other meal I’ve had in Turkey, but it was worth it. Split between 2 or more people the prices would be reasonable.
The staff were patient with me, I took my time to eat and never felt rushed. Definitely recommend you try it."
