This kushiyaki-inspired Bib Gourmand helmed by Singaporean chef, Reif Othman, has got more than typical grilled meats and vegetables, its beef gyoza is well worth a taste. The four-piece gyozas are expertly made with a thin dough and cooked to perfection, giving it a translucent appearance. It is stuffed with a finely minced meat filling, topped with a piece of peppery beef and a drizzle of a thick, umami-rich glossy sauce.

It bills itself as a ‘kushiyaki’ place – which means yakitori-style skewered meats are a strong suit. A chicken katsu sando is among the star dishes, though you’ll also find ramen, maki and sashimi on the menu.

The guide also spotlights 14 Bib Gourmand restaurants that offer a value-for-money gourmet experience for an average price of AED250 for a 3-course meal.
