Reviews Summary

Diners praise The Craftsman Company for its friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and excellent coffee and food, particularly its brunch offerings and vegan options. However, some reviews mention disappointing food quality on occasion and issues with disorganized younger staff members.

"been wanting to visit here for a while and finally had a chance on friday! liked it so much we came back the next day!! most of this great experience is due to the bar tender jack!! who was very accommodating, had great recommendations and was just very friendly! was such good service and will definitely be coming back :) also was a big fan of the festive cocktails especially the gingerbread espresso martini ⭐️🧸"

"The Craftsman – A Scottish Breakfast with Soul

In the heart of town, The Craftsman captures the spirit of Scottish hospitality with a breakfast offering that’s as bold and hearty as the Highlands themselves. Exposed brick walls, soft lighting, and charming floral china create an atmosphere that’s both refined and down-to-earth — the kind of place where time slows down just enough to savor every bite.

The Scottish breakfast served here is a triumph of tradition and care. Perfectly poached eggs sit proudly atop a plate rich with local character. Thick back bacon, grilled to perfection, lends a smoky, savory punch. The sausages — juicy and seasoned with a subtle spice — are joined by a slice of black pudding that’s wonderfully crisp on the outside, rich and earthy within. Baked beans and buttery mushrooms add warmth and depth, while a roasted tomato offers a sweet, tangy lift. The toast, golden and robust, is ready to soak up every last bit — served with a generous pat of butter on the side.

What elevates The Craftsman beyond its menu, though, is its people. The staff radiate genuine warmth and friendliness, treating each guest like a familiar friend. Service is attentive, unrushed, and always with a smile — the kind of welcome that turns a good meal into a great memory.

This is not just breakfast — it’s a celebration of Scottish flavors, tradition, and heartfelt service. The Craftsman is a place to linger, to return to, and to recommend without hesitation."

"Came in to see what a “coffee shop of the year” was like and it was disappointing. Tho service (order from the bar) and atmosphere was excellent the food was not. My order was quickly delivered but was leery when I asked for the potato and leek soup (at 11:00am) waitress said “let me see if there is any left!?! I expected fresh soup at that time of day- but received watery soup, must have been yesterday’s leftovers just reconstituted with water😞. Hubby got the “fluffy” fruit pancakes- oh boy! They were rubbery, thin, and hard. He had to use a knife to cut it up.
Came with blueberries and bananas but apologized about the lack of strawberries which they ran out of and then went to the local Sainsbury’s to get more later. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to make homemade fluffy pancakes- nor have all the kitchen supplies ready to serve. Too bad the kitchen didn’t have their act together. I’ll be going to other cafes that are better!"

The best cafes in Aberdeen: get ready to be hungry!

The Craftsman Company is located in the centre of Aberdeen, only a few minutes-walk from Union Square. It’s officially termed a ‘coffee and ale house’ but I’d heard good things about their brunch menu and so I wanted to try it. They have an all-day brunch menu and they also serve sandwiches, pasta salads, pizza and ‘poke bowls’ – which seems to be a salad bowl!
