"Really great food, wonderful service and beautiful building (an old market house). We had the tempura prawns and chicken satay to start - both delicious. Our mains were made to order (we wanted beef instead of chicken or prawns which was the option for one of the stir frys) and they were happy to accommodate.
Lovely staff, felt very welcomed - we enjoyed our first meal out in Ambleside."

The Lake District’s Best Vegan Restaurants
This is our second trip with our lovely rescue pup Avery, and one thing we’ve learned about travelling with canine friends is that you have to plan ahead for meals, and usually that means getting takeaways for dinner or cooking in a self catering cottage. Our second night in the Lake District we ordered food to go from Thai restaurant Doi Intanon in Ambleside. On the menu they clearly mark the vegetarian dishes which means you can be sure they don’t use any fish sauce or shrimp paste, and they mark if anything has egg in it.

Family-run Doi Intanon has been dishing up Thai flavours in Ambleside for over 20 years. Expect all the usual Thai delights such as pad Thai, green, red and jungle curries, Thai fish cakes, tom yum soup and salads, plus daily specials – all freshly made to order. There’s loads of choice for vegetarians too, and everything is served in beautiful surroundings, with handcrafted Thai decorations and ornaments creating such a warm and welcoming ambience, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to southeast Asia.
