Liv and Nijal made me a much bigger fan of Asian food than I was expecting, especially in a place as violently Irish as Belfast. I like Asian food, but never really jumped at it as a first choice when deciding what to eat–but it’s one of their favorite types of food, and the more we ate it, the more it really grew on me!. We went to Jumon for Liv’s birthday dinner, and it’s a really cool little vegetarian spot on Fountain Street serving unique Asian-inspired dishes and cocktails.

Serving up an abundance of Asian-inspired, plant-based dishes, Jumon takes the top spot on our list of the best vegan restaurants in Belfast. The menu at Jumon is almost exclusively vegan and proves that vegan food can pack a punch as every dish is full of flavour. With inspiration from Malaysia in the form of the rich and delectable laksa curry, a vegan take on Japan’s ramen and Thailand’s pad thai, and much more, there is something to suit the culinary tastes of everyone.

I have to start with the best first because when I first heard about this restaurant, it had my name written all over it – all vegan and Asian fusion, I instantly knew we had to go there!. Jass and I ordered a selection of dishes to share, because quite frankly, the entire menu looked soo good that we wanted to try as much as possible. To start, we ordered a cauliflower dish which was a special on the night we went and it was simply divine!

Bangkok arrived in Belfast with this Asian twist cuisine inspired by the owner Now – from Bangkok. I can’t write about everything on the menu and I genuinely can’t decide between all of their OUTSTANDING options, so my advice would be, if you like Asian cuisine – GO, just go!. Also they are hosting a pop up in Portstewart this summer, I am 100% feeling a road trip to sample Jumon with a view.

Jumon is a popular bar restaurant that serves creative South Asian dishes. While it doesn’t openly promote itself as halal, the meals are plant-based so safe to consume for those who are Muslim or against animal cruelty. As their motto goes, you can’t control everything in life but you can control what you put in your body so why not try something delicious AND healthy?.

Jumon is a South-Asian­/fusion style vegan restaurant in Belfast that’s a fab place to kick off an evening of good food, drinks and company. The entire menu is plant-based, so you don’t need to worry while perusing the dishes on offer. Small and sweet inside, the menu packs a punch of flavour and offers different meal combinations so you can get the most for your money.

The team at Jumon believe you are what you eat and this ethos is strongly reflected in their plant-based offering which offers an Asian fusion take on healthy, balanced food and drink. The Malacca Laksa is a particular highlight on their tantalising menu, and their selection of sides is the perfect accompaniment – the Korean fried broccoli is a delight.

You’ll find Jumon on Fountain Street and it’s here that Asian-inspired dishes collide with a fine mix of cocktails. This is a fully plant-based menu and many of the dishes are vegan-friendly (just make sure to check). Try the KFB (Korean Fried Broccoli) with kimchi and miso mayo or the flavorful Jumon Fried Cauliflower with honey and sesame seeds.

A totally vegan restaurant serving Asian inspired dishes using plant-based ingredients, this is perfect for all veggies and vegans. It is on the pricier side, so if you are feeling boujee, celebrating or having a date night, this is a great option. With cool interior décor, it is a busy spot so make sure to book a table in advance!
