International Restaurant Bradford

The channa murgh that I ate at International, for instance, was one of the nicest things I have tasted in some time, while the "donners" at Shimla's ("We don't do fast food, we do good food as fast as we can.") entirely recalibrate what we should expect, and demand, of the British high street kebab. Prashad, meanwhile, is about as sophisticated a flavour experience as you're likely to get in this country, at the sub £10-a-head price point. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I had decided to go for a curry at the International, one of the original family-run restaurants in the city, which I had never actually visited before. I walked back over towards the Alhambra and headed up Morley Street, passing another of the originals, the Kashmir, where I have been many times over the years. A little further up the hill at the gable end of a row of terraced houses I came to the International, where there was a bit of a queue to get in - I should have tried to get their earlier, but the beer had been good.

The International has retained a cult standing since 1976 and it's still family run. There is little secret to its success: reliably good, freshly cooked, homely food served in a lively, modern but unpretentious setting at exceptionally good-value prices. Plus waiting staff who welcome you in as part of The International family with jolly smiles and service that is speedy, helpful and patient when you’re wavering over what to choose.

Known as a “Bradford gem” is The International, famous for their absolutely delicious Indian, Asian, Balti and Pakistani cuisine. If you don’t fancy visiting the restaurant, they have an amazing takeaway service with top reviews to match. The food is absolutely bursting with flavour, with a range of super spicy and mild spiced foods to suit different tastes.

There are many places to go shopping in Bradford including newly built The Broadway which compromises of over 90 shops and eateries located in the heart of the city. Kirkgate Centre includes well-known high street favourites and at the top of the town you’ll find some great independent shops around North Parade or in the Oastler Shopping Centre.

The International is close to the action in Bradford city centre and is another fantastic curry house located on Morley Street. The host is welcoming and fun, the food is really, REALLY good quality and the prices are cheap for the standard of food you’re eating. You can also bring your own booze from the handily located shop just next door.

We travelled from Sheffield to visit a family member and wanted to go for a curry which we was recommended to try the international and we wasn’t disappointed!. The food was excellent the service was great and they really made us feel welcome. We would highly recommend them and we look forward to going again.

But of the three, it’s The International that gets the nod from us. Robustly seasoned, spritely spiced dishes of thick-sauced goodness be here, with a lime pickle that manages to tick – and then double underline – each box of the tongue’s taste map. Bitter, salty, tangy brilliance.

The International maintains International food standards and secures a top position among the halal buffet Bradford options. The place serves authentic dishes, especially in Kashmiri and Pakistani style. Furthermore, you may also taste the incredible Indian foods.

This family-run spot has been a Bradford favourite since the 70s. No frills, no fuss—just generous portions of rich, spiced Punjabi classics like karahis, biryanis and buttery naan. It’s warm, reliable and the kind of place locals return to again and again.

The International’s not far away and if the ebullient host, quality food and surprisingly cheap prices aren’t enough of a draw, the gaffer’s more than happy to go and grab you some booze from the shop next door. Afterwards, have a paddle in City Park.

Amongst the hundreds of restaurants are long time favourites such as Karachi, The Sweet Centre and International. At these and many more, like the city of Bradford itself, you’ll enjoy a proper experience.
