Food vlog: Dinner at Embers restaurant in Brighton, UK.📍 One of the best restaurants here - It’s a small plates, open-fire cooking restaurant, very good. 👌 We went for the ‘Feast Menu’ which had six small plates, plenty of food and so delicious. Where should I go next? 😋 #bestrestaurants #brighton #foodvlogger #thingstodo #travel

Reviews Summary

Embers garners praise for its unique wood-fired cooking, bold flavors, and lively atmosphere, with many highlighting the exciting open kitchen. While most diners rave about the quality of dishes like the lamb and the value of the lunch feast, a few have noted issues with undercooked meat or inconsistent seasoning. Overall, it's celebrated for its memorable dining experience and creative cocktails.

"Simply perfection. The best restaurant I have been to in Brighton hands down and I would HIGHLY recommend anyone who’s reading this to just. Special occasion or cheeky lunch it doesn’t matter, just get yourself there!

The food is sublime. There’s no frills or anything to hide behind, it’s just great quality food, great cookery and everything is kicked in flames. It’s fantastic. There’s calves liver was inspiring, the lamb was tender and cooked delightfully, and the skate wing was sweet and meaty and so succulent. From start to finish, each plate I had seemed to be as good as the last and I was frankly blown away.

The atmosphere in the place is really electric but still elegant. The open fire / kitchen is so fun to watch, seeing the flames and the grill - especially when you can see your food on its way haha! The staff and chefs were all so nice and the experience was up there with any.

A memorable meal at a memorable restaurant"

"Came here for our tenth anniversary and to be honest we were not very impressed with the food. It was a real shame as the restaurant is stunning, down to the crockery & silverware - everything was so aesthetically pleasing, the service was 10/10 and we loved the atmosphere in there; with the bonus of an open kitchen but for us the meat was incredibly undercooked. We ordered the lamb and had to send it back as the bits that were edible were so chewy we couldn’t eat it. The pork was ok but again under for us. The chicken tasted great but again just slightly under to feel comfortable to eat it all. The fish head had no meat at all (and we eat fish head a lot in Malaysia so we know how much meat you can get from it) so ended up being just a plate of liquid. We also noticed tongs being used for all meat? I’m not sure whether this is ok due to the constant high heat, quite possibly but I wanted to write incase the head chef needed to be aware. They kindly took the lamb off the bill, drinks were amazing and staff knew their stuff when it came to wine.

I normally only write positive reviews unless we are extremely unhappy and disappointed, this is not the case - it was a real shame that the food was undercooked for our liking but I feel the lady chef seemed incredibly stressed so maybe this was an off night & the love wasn’t there for the food. We did enjoy being there and our waiter was absolutely lovely."

"Absolutely loved my Sunday lunch in Brighton — hands down one of the most memorable meals I’ve had this year. The standout highlight was the incredible charcoal flavours infused into every element of the dish. The roast itself was cooked to perfection, but that gentle smoky depth made it feel really unique and elevated."

Best Restaurants in Brighton and Places To Eat in Brighton

Tucked away deep within the maze-like Lanes, this joint venture from two well established Brighton chefs, Isaac Bartlett-Copeland (Isaac At) and Dave Marrow (Terre à Terre), sees the pair cooking every dish on the menu on a Medieval-style fire cage over kiln-dried ash and birch wood. The vibe in this intimate venue is buzzy and informal, the interiors themed around charcoal walls, grey rock plates and smoke-effect cutlery, and quirky features including wall-mounted charred cross sections of tree trunk, stacks of firewood and a long industrial-style banquette backed with gridiron. A gentle smokiness fills the air, and diners have the option to eat at the kitchen counter overlooking all the open-fire theatrics.

The Best Restaurants In Brighton: The IDEAL 22

A restaurant in the Lanes that specialises in wood fire cooking with a vaguely Middle Eastern bent to proceedings (Zhoug? Check. Labneh? Check. Dukhah? Check) and some truly excellent cocktails?. With Burnt Orange just around the corner and only a paragraph previous, Brighton’s culinary cognoscenti might be forgiven for wondering whether this was all strictly necessary when Embers opened almost exactly a year ago. But scratch the surface just a little and you’ll find a very different proposition here, and one that’s refreshingly unique from its peers in close proximity.

My Top 10 Favourite Restaurants in Brighton

When the folk behind the long-standing experimental restaurant, Isaac At, decided it was time to move on, they opened Embers shortly after, in a wonky characterful building along a historic cobbled street in The Lanes. Here, it’s all about faultless small plates cooked over fire and cocktails. Even non-tequila fans rave about the Cadillac Jo’ Margarita, made with smoky mezcal, chilli, and citrus.
