What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kindling receives high praise for its exceptional steaks, often cited as among the best ever tasted, cooked perfectly over charcoal with a smoky flavor. Reviewers also commend the friendly service and pleasant ambiance, with some noting the interactive open kitchen as a highlight. However, a few diners found some dishes to be bland or overpriced, and one review mentioned disappointment with the sourness and saltiness of a pulled brisket brioche.
"Came to Kindling last Tuesday to celebrate my partners birthday. Booked through the First Table website, and the only slot they had was 4:30pm, but they let us come in a bit earlier as we were a bit pushed for time, which was really appreciated. Lovely decor and can imagine it can get really crowded during busy times, but the atmosphere was nice and chilled while we were there. We were hoping to go for the mid-week meat platter, but it wasn't on the menu we were given, so it possibly isn't an option for the First Table promotion, so instead we went for the sharing cut of T-bone steak with a few sides to share. Honestly, the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Also appreciate it comes to the table already sliced to save any arguments over who has had the most! Ordered 2 sauces but probably didn't need them as the sauce from the sides and flavour from the steak was plenty. Also ordered 2 starters - Courgette & Feta Fritters, which was top, and the Brisket & Jalapeño Croquette. This didn't turn up, which is unfortunate, as I was really looking forward to trying it, but by the time we finished our mains, we had had more than enough to do us so will definitely try it next time! Both agreed that even without the first table discount that this was fantastic value for money! Looking forward to our next visit!"

"Had an amazing meal at Kindling tonight.
We ordered the sharing T bone steak, mac and cheese and skinny fries for the main course.
The steak was one of the best steaks I’ve had in a very long time, cooked really well and tasted amazing. The sides and sauces were great.
Had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert which was literally perfect.
The atmosphere was good, with it being pretty much a full house and service was friendly and quick.
Booked in advance for a birthday and there was a subtle but well thought happy birthday, not anything over the top which was great"

"We drove 15 miles to try this restaurant, and it was absolutely worth every mile. As restaurant owners ourselves, we truly appreciate those special moments of gourmet tasting – and this place delivered on every level.
From the warm welcome by the staff to the friendly chat with the maître, we felt right at home. The cocktails were spot on, perfectly mixed and full of flavor. We started with a platter and a kid’s mac ‘n’ cheese for our 10-year-old daughter – and to our surprise, she managed to finish her meal and even tried most of ours! That says a lot, considering how particular she can be with food. We were so impressed that we ended up ordering the slow-cooked brisket burger – and wow, what a treat! Tender, juicy, and packed with flavor – it was an absolute highlight.
Even though the atmosphere was lively and a bit noisy, our table was right in front of the open kitchen, which gave us a front-row seat to the chefs in action – something we truly enjoyed.
As fellow food lovers and professionals, we can confidently say the quality here is exceptional. Absolutely recommended – we’ll definitely be back!"
