Though brunch at the Flour Pot Bakery is perhaps a less decadent affair than the others on our list, if you’re after a freshly baked pastry, baguettes, handmade sourdough pizzas or wholesome, hearty brunch dishes, then you’ll find it here.

The Flour Pot is a modern British bakery committed to all things artisanal. As well as great coffee, the bakery serves freshly baked pork and fennel sausage rolls, traditional croques, vegan rolls and huge selection of sandwiches – there’s a reason there’s always a queue out the door come lunchtime. True to its community spirit, the team has collaborated with independent local florist Matt Gunn at its site on Portland Road, creating a flower-filled Insta-friendly destination in which to sip coffee, while its seafront location has branched out to serve brunch, baked sourdough pizzas and sharing plates.

It’s such a lovely, homely spot, the only difficulty will be in forcing yourself to leave so you can get on with the rest of your day. I highly recommend a Biscoff latte and a vegan coconut pain au chocolat, alongside their vegan bulgogi rolls, almond twists and ANZAC biscuits. They have a great seafront location just a short walk from the Brighton Centre, too.

All their Brighton and Hove stores are open seven days a week and you can expect plenty of fresh bread and pastries at the flagship store in Sydney Street. The Flour Pot Bakery is an artisanal bakery and cafe that offers good coffee and a fantastic range of handmade freshly cooked and baked sweet and savoury delights. Definitely try the banana bread. There are various venues but sadly I only visited once this summer (First Avenue branch) as sadly I found the space to be dirty and not up to its usual standards.

If you're looking to sit and hang out I'd definitely go any flour pot or sugardough in the south lanes. Brodwolf on western road also loads of space to hang out although I've found the baked goods a bit hit and miss (either amazing or a bit stale) And of course if you don't mind it not being local both the Brighton and Hove Gail's are nice to hang out in
