Once a historic mill, this modern brasserie still retains many of its original features, including the actual watermill which is walled off like an exhibition piece. Aside that, MillWorks also showcases old bare-brick walls, though mixed with stylish parquet floors and leather seats (and we can't not mention the beaut views of Mill Pond too, which you can also enjoy on the gorgeous waterside terrace). It's all about fresh, locally sourced food here, with meat and fish fired up in their charcoal oven.

Overlooking the old Millpond on the Granta River in the heart of Cambridge, MillWorks is a modern and vibrant independent restaurant that offers brunch on Saturdays. Choose from delicious dishes such as ‘Doughnut French Toast’, a ‘Breakfast Burger’ and the ‘Brunch Buddha Bowl’ for fresh and local food. Pair with an appetising smoothie that’s packed full of goodness, such as the ‘Kale Kick’ with mango, spinach and kale for the perfect late-morning boost.

We wouldn’t usually recommend a pub as our child-friendly option, but we have to make an exception for the Millworks. Based in an old mill, this amazingly bright and light building feels like you’re outside even if you’re not in the great outdoor area. There’s a special children’s menu featuring all their favourites like fish fingers and mac and cheese, as well as a couple of dishes for adventurous youngsters, and a colouring picture.

Millworks is a historic Cambridge mill remodelled into a fancy modern brasserie, that serves tasty treats for brunch, lunch and dinner. With glowing TripAdvisor reviews (including a glowing 4.5 rating), it'd be worth eating here even if you weren't going for the steak. However, users of that site have singled out the flat iron steak as the single best thing on the menu- so you've got to go and try it for yourself, right?

If you can get one, there’s a few tables outside The Millworks right next to the millpond with lovely views over Coe Fen. This side of the river tends to be less touristy and more relaxed than a little further upriver at The Anchor, and I’ve eaten here quite a few times. The small plates are the real stars and are ideal for lunch, with the grazing plate perfect to share between two.

If you’re a Cambridge dweller of a certain age, you might recall that the building now home to the excellent MillWorks used to go by the name of Sweeney Todds. If so, you’ll probably remember the brilliant, messy ice cream sundaes for which the restaurant was known. Happily, MillWorks has revived this tradition – introducing the mighty, comically huge Rupture Rapture.

Overlooking the beautiful River Cam, MillWorks offers excellent service and Mediterranean & North African cuisine. It’s a sustainable and award-winning restaurant, brewery, and event space. The seasonal menu features dishes such as New Jersey day boat scallops, braised short ribs, wood-grilled New York strip steak, and farmhouse pasta with wood-grilled chicken.

In terms of nice restaurants in Cambridge for pretty views and a chill atmosphere, MillWorks delivers the goods. The restaurant is housed within a converted mill on the waterside of Mill Pond. Industrial-chic interiors afford a peek at the scenery but the terrace is the place to sit if the weather is on your side.

I would like to say I took my husband out for a meal here for his birthday. I'm coeliac and I felt so comfortable with how the two members of staff made me feel. We had an amazing experience and the food was excellent and the service was very good and friendly and very professional .

Another exquisite restaurant located in a historic building is the Millworks. Inside an old restored Cambridge Mill, this restaurant has a great setting for a now modern brasserie. Their charcoal grill gives a lot of dishes a nice smoky taste paired with pops of flavor.
