Based in a Victorian townhouse backed onto the River Cam, this restaurant gem in the city is well deserving of its Michelin Star that it was awarded for the first time in March 2023. Its current guardians are Sam and Alex, a young couple who’ve really made it their own. A classy vegan restaurant that appeals to non-vegetarians is Stem and Glory on King’s Street. If you can’t forgo the meat, the Pint Shop gastropub (in the former home of EM Forster, opposite the Arts Theatre) is for you – try its scotch egg, with the bonus of craft beer or artisan gins. Close by, The Senate is a good-quality Mediterranean bistro at medium prices.

Sam Carter's menu is honed from his years of experience working at Michelin-standard restaurants, and features seasonal, local produce that is delivered daily. The restaurant's candlelit dining rooms are best experienced after dark for an atmospheric feel.

We attended this wonderful restaurant to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. It's a real hidden gem, the food was phenomenal, and we've visited and tried many tasting menus in London and a few around the world. You can tell that the chefs and team have put an immense amount of effort into curating a beautiful and tasty menu.
