Reviews Summary
Deal Pier Kitchen is celebrated for its stunning seaside location and excellent brunch offerings, with the Lobster Benedict being a particular highlight. Reviewers consistently praise the friendly and attentive staff, though some recent feedback points to occasional slow service and disappointing food quality, contrasting with the otherwise positive dining experience. The restaurant offers great value, especially with its bottomless brunch option, and a welcoming atmosphere for both couples and families.
"Delicious food! The lobster and crayfish benedict is worth every penny. One of the best coffees I've had in England as well and the staff were very friendly. It was a bit busy and the food and coffee still arrived quickly."

"A lovely restaurant with a beautiful view of the sea - or the coastline, if you’re seated by the window. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, especially with the natural light coming in.
The staff were incredibly polite and friendly. It was a real pleasure to talk with them and get their help. Service felt warm and welcoming from start to finish.
We ordered the lobster roll. It was tasty and nicely prepared. However, don’t expect a strong lobster flavour - it was more about the overall mix than the seafood itself.
Dog friendly."

"Great cooked breakfast here.
Very clean and airy, with nice views of the passing boats and occasional seal.
We had the DPK breakfast and Vegan breakfast. With were very good quality.
Coffee was good, and the cakes looked great, but didn't try them this time.
Staff are very courteous and efficient.
Nice spot to watch the anglers on the pier too."

13 Great Things To Do In Deal For The Perfect Seaside Getaway
Located at the end of Deal’s brutalist pier (the last to open in the UK in 1957), Deal Pier Kitchen’s décor is stylishly stripped back to let the view do the talking: across the English Channel to France or to Deal’s seafront (pop in for a cocktail when the town is bathed in the rosy glow of sunset). Breakfasts range from a classic full English to chorizo hash with devilled eggs. A bottle of Railway Hill rose from local wine estate Simpsons is the perfect accompaniment to the ‘Steak & Lobster’ nights thar run on weekends from summer up to Christmas.
Best places to eat in Kent 2022
Locals were delighted when this revamped diner opened in 2019, its chic interior a backdrop to a forward-thinking menu. There are imaginative plant-based options as well as chalked-up daily lunch specials, such as sirloin-steak sarnies and lobster rolls. Artisan coffee and outstanding cocktails – plus panoramic end-of-pier views back across Deal and the White Cliffs – all make for a foodie haven.
Best restaurants in Deal: where to eat, drink and stay
Once home to a lacklustre fisherman’s cafe, the architecturally award-winning space at the bottom of Deal’s striking brutalist pier is now home to Deal Pier Kitchen, a locally-operated cafe and lunch spot that boasts unparalleled views of the sea and pretty Georgian town. Whether you fancy a slice of cake or Swedish cinnamon bun (expertly made by talented local bakers Kate Ampomah aka Eton Mess and Malin Hamilton aka Bygga Bo respectively) and cup of coffee, or a lobster and crayfish roll with skinny fries and a glass of Kentish fizz, you’ll find a warm welcome at this baby friendly, dog friendly spot. Sit by the massive windows and eat with the sea surrounding you - you might even spot a seal or two.

Once set for the morning, make your way over to Deal Castle, a striking coastal artillery fort built in the 1500s. Like Walmer Castle, it is run by English Heritage so a small fee for entry, but well worth it if visiting with family. There’s plenty of interactive activities for youngsters, plus the opportunity to roam the underground tunnels, discover more of the area’s military background and take in the stunning sea views from the castle walls.
Bottomless Brunch Kent: 21 Best Brunches You Need to Try [2024]
Deal Pier Kitchen has developed a reputation as one of the best brunch spots in Kent, and their bottomless brunch is one of the best around too. For £35 per person, you’ll get a snack platter, a choice of brunch or lunch dish, a dessert and ninety minutes of bottomless booze, which is super good value. Saganaki is one of my favourite things on earth, so I think I’d have to choose that dish – how about you?
Travel Guide to Deal, Kent
This cafe at the end of the pier is called Deal Pier Kitchen, and we visited one morning based on a recommendation from someone on Insta. The cafe is so popular that you frequently have to queue to get in, but luckily it was only 5-10 mins before we got a table. The breakfast menu looks really good, so I would’ve liked to try it, but we had a lovely time getting hot chocolates and pastries mid-morning.
Where to Eat in Deal, Kent
The Rose aside, this RIBA-award-winning glass-and-timber café is where locals brunch. Set on the concrete-clad pier it serves full Englishes, avocado-topped fare and some great sweetcorn fritters (vegans, take note) with a side of 360-degree sea views. Chalk-scrawled daily lunches run the coastal gamut from buttery, briny mussels to fish-finger sarnies.

The walk to the end of Deal’s striking brutalist pier is worth it for the food alone at Deal Pier Kitchen. That said, those floor-to-ceiling windows offering 180-degree views of Deal’s coastline (can you ever have 360 views of the sea? Only if you’re in it) certainly don’t hurt.
