What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners often praise Pizza Express for its consistently good food, especially the pizzas, and the wide range of options for various dietary needs like vegan and gluten-free. The service is frequently highlighted as attentive and friendly, contributing to a positive dining experience. However, some reviews mention long wait times for food and service, and occasional issues with order accuracy.
"I've been going for a while, and its always consistently good. Great selection for everyone, my twin brother is vegan and they have a tonne of options for him. My favourite desert used to be the toffee fudge glory, which they discontinued a few years ago much to my dismay! They now have a biscoff sundae that's right up there and filling the void for me!
Great pizzas, great selection, always consistent!"

"We had a lovely time at pizza express. Despite the team being quite busy, we didn’t doubt the service once during our visit. The level of attentiveness and quality of service was just amazing. The servers were kind, friendly, had great knowledge of the menu and made us feel so looked after the entire time we were there. On top of that, the food was amazing, really great quality. Could not have asked for a better experience!"

"The food was good, but the service was lacking. We arrived around 6:20. Ordered a kids meal and 2 pizzas, and finally left at 8:20. 2 hours for a very basic meal, which should have really taken about 1 hour max. We finished our pizza and asked for the kids desserts as soon as possible as it was getting late. 30 minutes, and three asks later we had to ask for them at the till, and we were told they were not on our order, a 'mix up'. And what was involved with prepping a kids dessert, pull out a brownie and cut it in two... Hardly worth the wait. Finally when trying to leave, we had our bill, but no one to pay. The staff were hammering through the clean up, ignoring the patrons, presumably desperate to close up as quickly as they could. I stood by the door receipt in hand and had to ask 3 times for someone to pay, I even asked the same waitress twice! Very much tempted to just walk out at that point. And then the audacity to hand me the full bill, with the tip screen and an expectant face. Will be going to Zizzi from now on."

Introducing the New Restaurants at Brewery Square
The popular pizza chain Pizza Express signed up early to be a part of the Brewery Square project, and the interior of the restaurant has been heavily inspired by the local area, particularly the Jurassic Coast. Diners are immersed in the history and unique geography of Dorset as they tuck into a wide range of gourmet pizza and pasta dishes on the extensive menu. There’s a good review of Pizza Express here on the Dorset Echo website, which ends by saying that the restaurant’s offerings are different enough that they will hopefully complement – rather than compete against – the established Italian restaurants already based here in Dorchester.
A Guide to Eating Gluten Free in Dorchester, Dorset
To have our best chance of not being glutened for the rest of the holiday, for our first night we decided to stick with somewhere we’d eaten at back home – Pizza Express. They have a fantastic national reputation for being great for Coeliacs due to their Coeliac UK Accreditation. Dorchester’s branch did not disappoint.
The 9 Best Gluten-Free Spots in Dorchester
We had a lovely time and the food was lovely if a tad on the expensive side. The gluten free options were fantastic. However one member of staff paid us too much attention offering lots of options and deals but we felt this destroyed the atmosphere and we found it hard to relax and complete a conversation.
