Reviews Summary

The Auld Hundred is praised for its authentic Scottish cuisine, particularly the haggis and steak pie, and its cozy, historic pub atmosphere. While the food is generally well-received, some find the menu slightly limited or dishes lacking a distinct punch. The upstairs dining area offers a more intimate experience, and the service is consistently described as friendly and efficient, though the close proximity of tables can be a minor drawback for some.

"The Missus and I along with the boys and GF had our first lovely traditional Sunday roast dinner at The Auld Hundred. The upstairs dining area was not overly roomy but had a tight cozy ambience. Despite being busy, the service was very prompt and efficient. Everyone enjoyed their roast chicken or beef entrees, apple crumble and sticky toffee desserts along with local beers. Will have to visit The Auld Hundred again on our next Edinburgh trip."

"We both got the steak pie and enjoyed it but far from the best pie we've had. The pub was charming but very busy. Food is served upstairs and the tables are in very close proximity to each other. Food service was quick. We had to pay extra for gravy."

Lewis Ramster

"The hop on hop off bus driver recommended this place to us. We said we wanted to go to an authentic Scottish pub. It was the perfect day out, so I was hoping to sit outside, but all the tables were full, so we sat inside upstairs. The service was excellent, very attentive server. I thought the menu was rather limited, but I decided to order the scottish pie. It was decent and comforting, but I felt it was a bit lacking a nd bland. It's not a bad spot, but for reference, I would probably choose somewhere else next time."

Admire their epic whisky selection, before taking your seat and enjoying live music evening performances, which run every Thursday to Monday. Must Eat Foods & Where to Eat Them

No surprises that we’re starting the list with this classic!. Haggis is by far our most well-known dish, I’d it’s right up there with tartan and bagpipes in terms of iconic Scottish items. Haggis has to be your number one must-eat food in Edinburgh, although I’d recommend not looking into what it was made from because that seems to put a lot of people off.

One of the many wonderful pubs on Rose Street, you can enjoy traditional pub fare and ale in the center of Edinburgh’s New Town. What makes this pub particularly special is the wrought iron staircase that leads you to a hidden dining room. Converted to a pub in 1800, this cool historical spot is surely one you won’t want to miss!
