What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners consistently praise White Horse Oyster & Seafood Bar for its exceptionally fresh seafood, creative small plates, and warm, attentive service, particularly highlighting staff like Hubert. The chic atmosphere and well-curated drink menu enhance the dining experience. However, some guests have experienced significant delays in food service, which detracted from their enjoyment.
"Imaginative small plates seafood menu in a cool environment. I wish we had a a place like this closer to home, as we would happily have ordered every dish (including all of the sides).
We ate as much as we could. Highlights included the lobster & prawn toast, a crab Scotch egg, very fresh scallops, some padron peppers with seaweed butter & smoked garlic, the desserts.
With two glasses of excellent wine the bill for 2 was around £130.
Visited during a fairly quiet lunch service at the beginning of the August festivals so to comment on the atmosphere would be unfair as it wasn’t full. The service was swift, well-informed and charming though; will definitely be back!"

"White Horse Oyster Bar is an absolute gem in Edinburgh! The seafood here is some of the freshest I’ve had — the oysters were briny, clean, and beautifully presented. Every dish highlighted the natural flavors of the sea without being overdone. The atmosphere is cozy yet stylish, and the service was warm and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you love fresh seafood, this spot is a must-visit in the city."

Top 12 Pubs On and Around Royal Mile in Edinburgh
This small bar on the Royal Mile is very traditional in its Scottish heritage. Despite referring to themselves as a cellar, inside you will find a rather bright cozy bar area with an array of drinks on offer, including 15 gins and circa 40 whiskies, plus a number of craft beers and wines which, complete with the snug atmosphere, create a truly welcoming mix. Still, one can easily pass this place by totally unaware of what's behind its narrow black frontage, as the keepers of the White Horse deliberately avoid putting on anything fancy to attract tourists.
