To fill up, the Fat Pig is a beautiful backstreet boozer serving scrumptious dishes such as pork faggots and mussels in cider. There are lots of little Asian restaurants that target the undergraduate market; Kin Khao Café is cheap and very cheerful. The City Gate is a fine, refurbished Young’s pub with a smart hotel.

A brewery, distillery and smokehouse with a steampunk vibe, this old Victorian pub is an Exeter legend. The on-site works produce gin, rum and vodka, plus bottles of their own-recipe moonshine (don't ask) and a cracking selection of craft ales.

Exeter’s only independent family run freehouse, The Fat Pig is a quirky, pooch-loving pub, priding itself on its use of local produce in both its delicious dishes and its in-house ales and spirits. There are pubs a-plenty within mere minutes of both our Exeter campuses, including one on our Streatham Campus, The Ram Bar. The Victoria Inn, slap-bang in the middle of Exeter’s peak student housing area, is also a perennial student spot.

For a more traditional vibe – and for a Sunday roast par excellence – head to John Street, an unassuming little road in parallel to Fore Street, where The Fat Pig serves up exquisite beef or pork with all the trimmings (other menu options are available, and they are the kings of the smokehouse). Be sure to book a table, though, because you’ll be competing with the locals for this stand-out cooking. The pub also has its own brewery and distillery – be sure to try one of their artisan gins.

The Fat Pig – Popular with the Bigwave team, just a stone’s throw from Bigwave HQ. Nice atmosphere, they brew their own beer and cider and smoke their own meat. You’re likely to see Designer Jeff and Account Manager Laurence propping up the bar of an evening.

This pub is one the finest we've been to.It absolutely deserves the reputation it has. The food,the beer,the atmosphere are all just spot on. The staff are extremely friendly and efficient.

DP Supporter considers this to be the best pub in Exeter with some of best food, beer and home made cider. Owner breeds rare breed pigs for the pub grub. Staff very friendly too.
