For a taste of African style, Amanzi promises the best steak skewers this side of the Tamar, and if you’re on a date night try fine wining and dining at Mine (run by Le Gavroche-trained Angus Bell) .

We booked for Friday 24th May at 17:00 with an empty restaurant - despite this being the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend and half term the following week, with a busy Falmouth, half the Tapas on the menu were not available. We were only told this after our order was taken - the waitress returned from the kitchen to inform us what wasn’t available. We would normally have walked out but were on a tight timetable so grinned and beared what they could offer, annoyed our favourites weren’t available.

A rustic Spanish-style tapas restaurant in the heart of Falmouth, Bodega serve wonderful dishes with a special nod to owner Ren’s Madrid and Barcelona roots. Serving lovingly-prepared tapas, owners Steve and Ren showcase flavours from across Spain, but with particular focus on tapas from Madrid and Barcelona. From the land there’s such dishes as Tia’s pig cheeks in a rich wine gravy and pollo frito, from the field there’s pisto Manchego with quails egg and fried aubergine, while from the sea there’s king prawn pil pil and calamari.

Formerly the site of Hunky Dory, the owners of Bodega 18, partners Steven Fradgley and Irene Del Val Martin saw the opportunity and got to work on the site in-between lockdowns.

We had some lovely tapas here after they fitted us in at the end of service. What fantastic folk. We're back down in Cornwall and booked in again with a bigger party!
