This tiny tucked-away tapas bar changes their menu regularly based on what’s available to them at the time, supplied by local fishermen. You can usually find their staple favourites on the menu though, as well as a current special. Recently these have included ‘pan-fried John Dory fillet on organic watercress velouté topped with beetroot relish’ and ‘crispy plaice fillet on a coconut curry with pickled carrot, radish, coriander and toasted peanuts.’ Delicious!

I’ve now been to Verdant Seafood Bar twice and it was excellent both times. Part of Verdant Brewing Co., it’s a taproom with a difference, serving up fresh fish dishes in a tiny restaurant-style spot. The dishes are imaginative and well executed, they do a great range of beers and wines, and it’s got a brilliant atmosphere to a backdrop of old school hip hop.

It is one of my all-time favourite restaurants in Falmouth or Cornwall, but perhaps the world!. While you might expect this place to be all about beer, the real draw is the seafood tapas!

Porthminster Beach Caf�, a whitewashed spot on St Ives beach, has been an epicurean staple for over three decades. With numerous accolades to its name, this lively restaurant offers the perfect setting for a day out with the family. The bright dining room features simple wooden furniture and tiled floors, while the patio is ideal for alfresco dining.

Falmouth is a foodie stronghold, however on our Sunday-Tuesday stay some of the more acclaimed restaurants like Oliver’s (High St) were closed, as was the hip Nude Canteen (Killigrew St) and much-tipped candlelit subterranean Verdant Seafood bar. Fish and chips fans, by the way, should head to The Harbour Lights on Arwenack St.

Staff are super friendly and helpful and the selection of food that can be done gluten free is fantastic. A great range of beers and some nice alternatives if you can't indulge in their Verdant tap range - which I am told was great. Highly recommend checking this place out- you won't be disappointed.

The majority of our seafood comes from our favourite local fishmonger, Seabourne Fish, who are just across the road from us here on Commercial Road in Penryn. Their fish and seafood are Cornish and sustainably sourced and usually landed just a few miles from our front door.

Each venue will offer a great selection of beers, like a treasure hunt for beer lovers. The Verdant Taproom, in Penryn, will also be pouring a special selection of 10th anniversary brews, and hosting special birthday events throughout the weekend.

A great spot for small plates and amazing beers (8 lines available from Verdant). For beer and seafood lovers – this dog friendly venue ticks all the boxes. It is a small and cosy bar that takes walk-ins, no bookings.

If you visit The Working Boat, Underland (The Chintz), Lauter Bottleshop, The Cornish Bank, The Front and naturally their Verdant Seafood Bar, you will be able to try some super fresh and very special beers.
