Crannog is situated on the shore of Loch Linnhe and boasts stunning views of Scotland’s natural beauty. The restaurant began as a local fisherman’s bait shed and was later converted into the iconic establishment it is today. The transformation was motivated by a desire to serve the highest quality of seafood that the British isles has to offer.

We provide a list in our Information Folder once you are here, with suggestions such as The Garrison West for what we think is the best Cullen Skink (a Scottish favourite, being smoked fish soup), or for a more casual lunch, the Highland Soap Factory or The Highland Cinema. Both will do soup and a roll, while the Cinema does a very tasty range of pizzas. The Soap Factory has a range of breakfast, brunch and lunch choices to suit most tastes.

If you have a smokehouse at Fort William, then why not open a restaurant to feature your produce?. This idea saw the successful launch of the Crannog, bang on Loch Linnhe, in 1989, & although storm damage in 2005 forced it to relocate for a short period, it returned to its original premises in 2006 with a bang. Decor is bistro-chunky with fishing-themed artwork, & many tables have views down the loch.

This seafood specialist is right on the harbour so has some of the best views in town. And underneath the distinctive red roof, Crannog Restaurant serves up some of the best Scottish seafood in Fort William. The restaurant’s famous cruises are not running at the moment, but there’s plenty to look at out of the window to keep you occupied as you dine.

Garrison West in Cameron Square is a good place for a pleasant evening - very good menu and a nice ambience. Fort William's most recent addition is Witherspoons Great Glen, which sits on the site of the former Grand Hotel. This bar has an excellent interior design based on the Outdoor Capital concept and is probably the largest too.

A quick 9-minute walk from Fort William bus station and round the corner from the West Highland Museum, you’ll find a seafood rich menu showcasing why Fort William’s seafood scene is worth the trip. From Cullen skink and crispy squid to Monkfish Scampi and seafood tagliatelle, you’ll soon become a welcomed regular.

Garrison West fancies itself a bit – all gin, craft lager and boardgames. We visited in the afternoon lull and found it friendly enough, if half asleep. The large range of beer seemed to have been chosen based on localness and the ‘craftness’ of the branding rather than any assessment of quality.

The Geographer , Crannog Seafood Restaurant and Garrison West are other stellar food options that have also won Travellers Choice Awards. The former serves a mix of European and international cuisines while the latter both specialise in fresh seafood including local mussels.

Ate dinner here on Monday 16th September with 2 friends celebrating our completion of the West Highland Way. Booked following a local recommendation & excellent Google reviews. They helpfully moved our booking back an hour as we were running behind on our walking schedule.

This seafood restaurant wins the award for having the best location in Fort William. Perched on the pier where boats head across Loch Eir to Camusnagaul, Crannog offers up scallops, prawns and langoustines. Not to be missed if you're a seafood lover.

A nice lively pub with a fantastic selection of local beers and gins, great to catch up with friends over a drink. They do lovely simple pub food and their charcuterie platter featuring our Venison charcuterie is very popular.

The two types of meals my family ordered were fish-and-chips and cod. The meals were large, and only one of us finished the full meal. We also ordered squid rings that came with a special sauce for a starter.

Chef Phil Carnegie is still creating the same wonderful seafood dishes we have been producing since 1989 at the pier. Renowned Scottish seafood restaurant, with meat vegetarian and vegan choices.
