Reviews Summary

Cail Bruich offers an exceptional fine dining experience with exquisite, creative dishes and outstanding service. Diners frequently celebrate special occasions here, praising the tasting menus, wine pairings, and the overall ambiance. While the price point is high, most feel it is well worth the money for an unforgettable culinary journey.

"Absolutely wonderful experience.
We booked the 5-course tasting menu to celebrate our anniversary and had a great time at Cail Bruich. The journey through the tasting menu is very enjoyable. Our favourites are the woods mushroom and creedy carver duck.
The team is also very lovely and friendly. The small gesture with a handwritten card to celebrate our special occasion with us was very touching.
Thank you for a fantastic evening."

Peach Phurappa

"This is an exceptional restaurant, where we had the most memorable meal that we have ever had. We were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful evening and felt very warmly welcomed by staff. All the service was highly professional. Every course of the dinner menu was exquisite (7 courses + snacks + extra sweets). This menu is expensive but well worth the money. The fish courses were our favourites. I could not quite eat all of the sweet items at the end; I think perhaps it was because of the richness of the previous courses. But each one was exciting and delicious. The drinks mark-up is high but the wine is excellent. So it was a thoroughly delightful evening and we will certainly come again for another special occasion. Thank you."

Faye H

"Exquisite dinner! We walked into an amazing dining experience last night. It was a stunning art gallery of seven dishes beautifully displayed and choreographed perfectly to each table. Each dish was cooked and decorated to perfection. Great teamwork displayed between the kitchen and staff too! We were able to savor each dish with time before we moved onto the next dish. Service was outstanding too."

A Gaelic phrase that means "to eat well", the restaurant known as Cail Bruich certainly lives up to its name as evidenced by its many awards, including a coveted Michelin star (currently the only eatery in Glasgow with one). Run by two brothers, the ambitious and innovative menu makes use of local, high-quality Scottish ingredients, but it's really the delicate and clever cooking style that takes the menu to higher heights. Tasting menus of 5 or 7 courses are available (with vegetarian alternatives also available on request).

One of Glasgow’s two Michelin-starred restaurants, Cail Bruich’s attention to detail is exemplary, from the consideration given to dietary requirements to the cooking and some exuberant advice from the sommelier. The trim seasonal or tasting menu strives for flawlessness as it works its way up through the gears using the finest of Scottish fish, meat, game and vegetables, some of which come from the restaurant’s own garden.

Michelin Star Restaurants In Glasgow 2024

When it comes to the best Michelin star restaurants near Glasgow city centre, Cail Bruich has held onto the accolade since 2021 (among many of its impressive awards). Chef Lorna McNee (the only female Michelin star holder in Scotland) and her team work closely with some of the country's best suppliers and producers, ensuring all of the kitchen's ingredients are of the highest quality. Calm, neutral tones are spread across the bare-brick walls, booth seating and tiled kitchen, while hungry punters can choose between either a lunch menu, a five-course tasting menu or a seven-course tasting menu, each changing seasonally.

Celebrating leading women in Glasgow’s hospitality industry

Winning a Michelin star is the stuff of dreams for most chefs, and Lorna McNee is one of the few to have achieved it — and in a very short space of time. After beginning her career in Scottish hospitality as an apprentice chef with Andrew Fairlie (Gleneagles’ two Michelin star dining venue), McNee went on to appear on (and win) the BBC’s Great British Menu, receiving huge praise for her skill and creativity. Cail Bruich had been in business for 13 years when she arrived at the kitchen’s helm, but in just over six months the young chef had gained the restaurant its first Michelin star (and Glasgow’s first in 18 years).

After a refresh a wee while back this West End restaurant came back better than ever, now majoring in solid seasonal cooking that keeps the team here busy with back to back diners most days. Unusual combinations populate the menu – like tomatoes with strawberries and dashi or young summer veggies with barley and fermented turnip – and there are a couple of tasting curations to choose from. Prices can be steep, but eat at lunchtime and you can take advantage of a slightly more affordable tasting menu from the Michelin starred team headed up by Lorna McNee.
