Surfing the Severn Bore: An upstream battle against Britain's polluted rivers 🌊 In Gloucestershire, England, "bore rider" Ben Rogers surfs the river Severn, one of the UK's longest rivers, which runs several hundred kilometres from mid-Wales to the Bristol Channel. He rides what is known as a tidal bore: a surge caused by tidal changes - in this case in the Bristol estuary - that creates a wave la...

Reviews Summary

The Severn Bore Inn garners mixed reviews, with many praising its traditional Sunday carvery, particularly the roast potatoes and tender meats, alongside its scenic beer garden overlooking the River Severn. However, some diners have reported issues with food quality and the pub's overall state, citing undercooked meals and maintenance concerns. Service can also be a point of contention, with some experiencing rushed staff while others commend their friendliness and efficiency.

"I recently visited Seven Bore for a Sunday carvery, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. The highlight for me was the roast potatoes—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. Paired with their gravy, which had that rich, “old-school” flavor that brought back memories of home-cooked Sunday roasts, it was a true comfort meal.

The meats were simply perfection—tender, juicy, and cooked to exactly the right temperature. Whether you opted for beef, turkey or gammon, each cut melted in your mouth.

The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was attentive, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed, hearty meal. If you’re after a traditional Sunday roast done right, Seven Bore is definitely worth a visit!"

"Booked a table for 6 adults and turned up an hour or so earlier, so we could have a drink before our meal.
Our server seemed rushed off her feet, she had to ask for extra help while she served us. However, once drinks were served, she showed us to our table and offered her assistance if we should so need. We sat outside for a couple of drinks. There was music playing (a little loud for my dad, so we moved away from the speakers). She then came out and warned us that one of the meats was running low so to collect our meals sooner to make sure we had all 3 meats, if we wanted. The food was amazing. Well cooked and very tasty. Good service from a younger lady, who also offered us take out desserts. This was a good service as we were all very full after our mains! The two ladies that served us, we're very friendly and super efficient! Will definitely go back again!"

"Very quiet, beautiful garden over looking the river. Bit of a locals pub but not in a bad way. A great place for a quiet summer drink by the river."
