Reviews Summary

Clocktower Restaurant offers an elegant dining experience with some standout dishes, particularly desserts. While many praise the friendly staff and beautiful ambiance, a recurring concern is the inconsistent service and high prices for portion size. Some diners have also noted issues with food temperature and preparation, though many find the overall experience satisfactory, especially when combined with spa packages or special offers.

"Had breakfast and dinner here, both good experiences, the staff are particularly wonderful. Food quite pricey and not the biggest portions but ok when it’s included in your hotel package. Clocktower feels much nicer when dining alone as it’s more formal and quiet"

"Was having the time of my life at rudding. A Room and Dine indulgent Xmas prezzy to each other. Amazing room, spa and experience at first. Drinks reassuringly expensive but fine in the context. Then made the mistake of eating in the clockhouse on Saturday evening. The main dining room stank of fish so moved to other room. We were Still upbeat at that point and smiling and enjoying ourslelves...then...Caesar salad to start made a mcdonalds salad look gormet. Then...the £105 tomahawk for two arrived carved up like dog food and cold. I demonstrated this to the waiter by putting my hand on the 'sizzling hot stone'. Dissapointed but we gave them constructive and reasonable feedback and left. The picture of "tenderstem" cold broccoli sums it up. Such a shame. So close yet so far. Was worth the money up until it wasn't. I'll be marching to the front desk shortly for further feedback giving and reparations. I'll go back to using our usual treat spa place in Durham. Ribroom at ramside is a proper restaurant and know their onions. Might go over to Devonshire Arms for Sunday dinner to salvage."

"We booked for my mum's birthday as she wanted to go. After booking I read the reviews and wondered what we'd let ourselves in for. Pleasantly surprised. Service was very attentive if slightly disorganised at times. Drinks always took a bit too long to arrive. Mains took too long as well but it was a busy Sat night. Lovely atmosphere, dining room was a bit too cold - my mum had to sit with her coat on!

Menu is very simple indeed but food was good. I had beetroot starter, lamb main and chocolate mousse pudding. All tasty.

If you are a party of 4 definitely join the foodies club for 50 quid - will get 25% off your bill and it will more than pay for itself. Without it the prices are too high for what it is."

Best British, Modern Restaurants in Harrogate - Reviews & Restaurant Guide

2024 Review: Attached to a luxurious spa hotel, this modern brasserie is open all day (with other options in the hotel being the more ambitious Horto, or afternoon tea in the Conservatory). One fan notes it as a good place for a relaxed business meal, but there is also the odd concern that its “good ambience can be let down by average results at excessive prices”.
