Located in a prime position, less than a minute’s walk from the Valley Gardens and Royal Pump Rooms, the restaurant and wine bar William and Victoria has been established in Harrogate for over 40 years. Dipped below the pavement, customers step into an intimate bar that boasts over 100 varieties of wine; diners can choose to feast here, or alternatively they can move upstairs into an airy and elegant dining space. Peruse their treasure trove of luxurious dishes, like the slow-roasted belly pork with crackling, apple and red wine sauce, and choose yourself a meal fit for Queen Vic herself.

Bistro-style food in a fabulous setting, William and Victoria’s (also known as ‘Will and Vic's) focus on locally supplied, seasonal produce to curate their menus. Downstairs, you’ll find a wine bar and bistro-style dining, whilst upstairs can be booked for private parties and events. Their focus on quality food shines through their choices on the menu, and the bar menu is perfect when you want that smaller bite to accompany one of their 50, yes fifty, wines on offer.

Their classic British dishes make the most of quality ingredients from local suppliers. There’s a shorter early bird menu available until 6.30pm, or why not opt for the tempting bar plates served Monday to Saturday alongside a glass of wine or your favourite tipple.

A short walk from the apartments, William and Vic’s is a bit of a Harrogate institution and another clear favourite with locals, all of our guests rave about their experience here. Family run, a cosy atmosphere with impeccable service, it offers a bistro style wine bar as well as a restaurant serving excellent food, my recommendation is the beef cooked in red wine with horseradish dumplings… delicious!

William & Victoria is another of the city’s long-standing eateries. While the ground floor is modelled on a bistro/wine bar set-up, the first floor has more of a traditional restaurant vibe. Dishes are based on simple British cooking, with the likes of fishcakes followed by slow-cooked red meat, roasted chicken, and pan-seared fillets of fish.

It offers two different dining options, as there is an informal dining room downstairs and a fine dining restaurant on the upper level of the establishment. However, even the fine dining section of the venue has a relaxed atmosphere and is not pretentious. Each section has its own menu, but the standard of the food is just as good in both.

William & Victoria’s (near Prologue on Cold Bath Road) is very good – downstairs for bistro, upstairs for fine dining. I believe it is closed at the moment for refurbishment so worth checking but you would definitely need to book if it is open again now.

This restaurant and wine bar serves traditional British food and has been a Harrogate staple for over 40 years. Characterful interiors and classic dishes like shepherd’s pie make this great for a hearty meal. A great choice for Sunday lunch!

William and Victoria or ‘Will & Vics’ to the locals is a longstanding local restaurant which is as old as me (and that’s pretty old) and unlike some fancy restaurants, happily caters for kids.
