Reviews Summary

The Boatside Inn is highly praised for its welcoming atmosphere, exceptional service, and delicious, well-presented food that offers great value. Guests consistently highlight the friendly staff and the beautiful location. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a few diners noted limited vegetarian options on occasion.

"My family and I went for a meal at The Boatside Inn. We rang ahead of time to ensure our allergies could be catered for and they had a children's menu too.
We were served promptly and staff could not have done more for us.
All bar myself and the three little ones had starters. Then we all had main courses and desserts. The food was out of this world. So tasty and good portions. All was good homemade food including the condiments like the Tarte sauce.
The pub has a big outside playground for the kids to run off all that energy. Worked out at about £30 per person, which we were all impressed with.
Would recommend to anyone because it was a wonderful birthday present for me
Thank you all everyone. Keep up the good work"

"Lovely welcoming traditional country pub and restaurant in a gorgeous location. Great service from friendly staff, and with food which is great value for money, I highly recommend a visit. I had the delicious fish and chips, so perfectly cooked with a lovely (gluten free) crispy batter, which was better than a lot of batters I’ve had before. Chips and mushy peas were cooked to perfection too. It was difficult to decide which dish to have in the first place as there was a great selection to choose from!"

"We stayed here for 4 nights to attend a family wedding nearby. Our room (Quilter) was nicely decorated and furnished, clean, comfortable and spacious. Lots of drawers and hanging space, and an excellent shower in the en-suite.
Breakfast was really tasty (we had the small Northumberland) and there was a good choice on the dinner menu, again all well presented and tasty. My husband enjoyed the selection of real ales!
The staff, led by host Andy, were friendly, attentive and professional. Another plus is that dogs were made very welcome.
Altogether a joy to stay there and we would certainly return if we are in the area."

Dog-friendly businesses welcome furry visitors in Hexham

Janie French from Visit Hexham said: "Hexham Old Gaol welcomes dogs, which is often a nice surprise for visitors. Our free Heritage Tours are dog-friendly as are the new Hexham Hidden Horrors tours. Obviously, Hexham's central parks and the lovely runs at Tyne Green are a big plus for dog owners. My Tibetan Terrier, Dita, loves life in Hexham and is fond of a trip to Cogito Books followed by a relaxing lie down in a café. She's all about the free treats!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay for a weekend exploring the delights of Northumbria. A warm welcoming place to stay, we loved the atmosphere and the hospitality shown by the hosts James and Emma along with the wonderful boatside crew made it feel like a home from home. Celebrating our engagement on the ‘Wall everyone was so genuinely delighted and made it feel even more special with kind words and treats to help us both celebrate.

It serves classic British dishes in its spacious dining room, and there’s always a good range of daily specials available too. A big attraction is the outdoor beer garden where food is served.

A lovely inn at the end of a 2 mile walk along Tyne Green from Hexham and makes a great stop for food and drink before the walk back to Hexham. Water bowls are provided for those thirsty from the walk and a lovely wood burning stove to lie in front of to warm up on colder days. The food is excellent.
