Reviews Summary

The Bowes Hotel receives high praise for its exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, clean and well-appointed rooms, and excellent value for money. Guests consistently rave about the quality and generous portions of both evening meals and breakfasts. The welcoming atmosphere of the pub area is also a significant draw, making it a highly recommended stopover and a gem of a place.

"Fabulous stay. Very clean, well run and staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Excellent value for a well appointed room and amazing breakfast. Evening meals are good too, reasonable price, big portions and good quality."

"Impromptu visit after we called at the pottery factory next to The Bowes. The pub was quite busy as the football was on the screen, as we waited at the bar to be served a very efficient member off staff asked if we wanted to order food and she would arrange a table if required. We ordered a starter and main each of the Sunday menu, oh wow, we had 4 different menu items and all were exceptionally good quality. Service from the staff was very efficient and professional and the place was very well organised and well managed even though it was very busy. The guy behind the bar was very good, the female member of staff very attentive both a credit to the pub. The Sunday lunch was very good quality, the meat was exceptional, the flavour in the gravy was sensational, a real chef cooking with fresh ingredients and producing real quality food. Now we know about this place we will visit again and would highly recommend to anyone."

"A historic country pub with friendly and helpful staff.
Situated just off the A69 and a walk away from some fantastic ancient sites.
Food was reasonably priced, good quality and big enough to satisfy any ramblers appetite.
My only criticism was the noise from the pub below. But if you didn't need an early night, it wouldn't bother you.
Definitely worth more than the 3 star rating it holds."
