After popping up in The Merchant for a while, Bundo Bust has finally opened the doors of its third restaurant in the UK cementing their place among Bold Street’s culinary offerings. Alongside a plethora of craft beers, Bundo Bust serves up modern Indian Street food with dishes such as Okra fries and Pav Bhajis, that taste great when eaten with beer. This latest addition to Liverpool’s vegetarian restaurants will no doubt attract diners in their droves, and all are made to feel right at home inside the casual and colourful setting.

A really great concept – lots of decent beer and spicy, snack-y Indian food” – is the MO of this casual and vividly decorated city-centre outpost of the small northern group: “more like a canteen than a restaurant”. Don’t expect trad curry and Tiger beer, though – here you’re looking at “vegetarian-only food based on Gujarati cuisine” served alongside local craft beers (including their own). The owners started out in Leeds, but there’s also a Manchester Piccadilly sibling that spawned a brewery a few years back.

Now, not only is this one of my top Bold Street restaurants but it also happens to be one of my favourite restaurants of all time – and I don’t say that lightly. If you’re looking for super comforting and flavourful vegetarian food, this is the place for you. Bundobust is a small northern independent chain of restaurants which started in Leeds, spreading to Liverpool’s Bold Street location, Manchester Picadilly and Birmingham (opening Summer 2023) - it’s no surprise that everyone just loves it here.

If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine, you will love Bundobust on Bold Street. This place is known for its authentic Indian street food, including plenty of vegan options like the Bhel Puri, a classic Mumbai street snack made up of broken samosa pastry and puffed rice in a sweet tamarind chutney. If you want to try a bit of everything, you should opt for the vegan combo which consists of seven dishes in total, including the sprout bhajis, the mango dusted okra fries, the chole saag and more.

Opening times: 12 pm to 9:30 pm (Mon-Thu), 12 pm to 10 pm (Fri-Sat), 12 pm to 8 pm (Sun). This might be yet another Indian street food option on the list, but Bundobust offers something on top of it that most fathers would love to enjoy on Father’s Day - a nice cool pint of craft beer. Renowned not only for its tasty ale, but its extensive menu which consists of numerous tasty dishes and nibbles; especially the fusion ones, such as the India-China mash-up of the popular Gobi Manchurian.

This craft beer and Gujarati street-snack specialist has taken a huge first-floor space and decked it out in pastel shades and cool, kitsch design features. Its meat-free bhel puri, scrambled egg bhurji or tarka dhal are equally attention grabbing.

When it comes to vegan restaurants in Liverpool, Bundobust sure doesn’t disappoint, with their quality vegan street food available for delivery or collection. All their delicious dishes are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, consisting of organic, natural and plant-based ingredients. Choose from a mixture of different dishes within the relaxed environment, including the Bhaji Butty with a bhaji patty, salad, and chutneys in a vegan brioche bun.

This is nothing like a typical Indian restaurant, look modern, stylish and a bit like a canteen. When food arrived on paper Plates and bowls we were a bit apprehensive, but we had nothing to fear. I first came here with my daughter Olivia and her partner Jim as a celebration when they had just started their own business called Clay Workshop. The food was so amazing!. I was shocked by how delicious it all was, and the staff were all really friendly and helpful when ordering, giving us recommendations.
