Reviews Summary

Maray Bold Street is consistently praised for its flavorful Mediterranean small plates and vibrant, cozy atmosphere. Diners rave about dishes like the 'Disco Cauliflower' and the variety of vegan and meat options. While the food and ambiance are generally excellent, some guests have noted occasional slow service during peak times.

"This was my first time trying a Mediterranean restaurant, and Maray didn’t disappoint!

Not only was the food delicious, but the coffee was surprisingly good too. I didn’t get a chance to try the desserts, but based on everything else, I’m sure they’re great as well.

The menu features lots of flavorful vegetable-based dishes, along with a few meat and fish options. I especially enjoyed the goat cheese with crispy fish and cauliflower—such a tasty combo! Mixing and matching the dishes was part of the fun.

The staff were warm and helpful, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking to explore Mediterranean cuisine, I highly recommend giving this place a try."

"All I could say is that this place is absolute superb!
we came here to grab a quick bite before catching train home and it was one of the BEST meals we had throughout our trip in Liverpool.
Love every bite we had from boquerones to cod and steak and to dessert, wish I found this place earlier.
Service is amazing as well, all the staff were lovely x
Will definitely come back next time."

Amber Tik

"Wow!

Been hearing great things about this place for years, and finally got round to going over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

It didn't disappoint! The disco cauliflower, hummus and lamb shawarma were sensational as was the local bee. All in a relaxed and informal atmosphere! Loved it!

I'll be back!"

Bold Street Restaurants | Best Places to Eat Out on Bold Street Liverpool

Favourably reviewed by The Guardian’s Jay Rayner, who rated their falafel as a “marvellous thing”, Maray was arguably one of the first Bold Street restaurants to kick-start the Liverpool food revolution of recent years. Serving up small plates inspired by global cuisines, their delectable dishes are now a regular favourite for any Liverpool foodie. From their famous falafel with hummus and tabbouleh, to showstopper plates such as Lebanese cured salmon with cucumber, radish and labneh and those just-pink flat iron steaks with roasted pineapple.

With a dedicated vegan menu, Maray takes its plant-based offering seriously and is happily one of the more upmarket choices in Liverpool – perfect for date night or a special celebration. Thanks to its popularity there are also three branches across the city which means grabbing a table near you should be pretty straightforward. Middle eastern flavours are king here with top picks including wild mushrooms with cannellini beans, a herb crust and garlicy toum sauce and confit carrots with hazelnut butter, tamarind, pickled celeriac and parsley.

With venues on Bold Street and by Dockside, Maray is a sociable spot for a sharing feast - designed to bring people together and priding themselves on excellent service. They opened their first location in 2014 after the owners spent time in Le Marais, Paris - a cultural melting pot that produces some of the best Middle Eastern food outside of the region itself. Best Places to Eat in Liverpool

There’s three Maray joints in Liverpool, making it something of a Scouse institution, but don’t let that fool you into thinking this is a subpar chain restaurant. The food at Maray leans Middle Eastern but the chefs aren’t afraid to put that much PR’d about “modern spin” on dishes. The famous ‘Disco Cauliflower’, for instance, is a fun take on that baked brassica which comes dressed in a wardrobe of chermoula, harissa, tahini, and yoghurt and finished with a scattering of pomegranates, almonds, and fresh herbs.

These are the best restaurants in Liverpool right now

One of Liverpool’s most beloved dining destinations, Maray started life in a former charity shop on Bold Street. It’s since birthed what you might call two and a half children – or the perfect nuclear family, with restaurants in Liverpool’s Albert Dock and Manchester city centre and a bookable private space below the Bold Street original. In concept, Maray is inspired by the similar-sounding, differently-spelt Parisian neighbourhood, where myriad cultures jostle, overlap and intertwine.
