What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Erskine Arms is celebrated for its exceptional food quality and friendly, accommodating staff who make guests feel welcome. Diners rave about the scratch-made dishes and the cozy, historic atmosphere within Conwy's town walls. While most reviews are glowing, one diner had a very negative experience with the Sunday Roast, citing poor food quality and a lack of care.
"Absolutely amazing food and even better staff. We booked on the day for a table of 6. When we arrived we were greeted very warmly and given an appropriate table. 2 people from our party were not able to eat pork or beef however the accommodated them by allowing them to order a wrap which is typically served under the lunch menu. All the food we ordered was amazing and perfectly cooked. And again if i am ever back in the area would definitely go again."

"Had our evening meal here in our trip to Conwy, only problem was that we only went once! We’re considering having every meal here next time!
The restaurant is beautifully decorated feeling modern and homely in equal measure. It is a true gastro pub, the atmosphere was relaxed and vibrant with a lovely mix of people. We dined in the small outside area.
Starters- the white bait was terrific, good size fish and well portioned. A tiny bit too battered but still terrific and I can’t wait to have more.
My wife had the meatballs, which were delicious.
I had a lovely pie, very filling and fresh, you can tell it’s been made well.
My wife had a fish course that had fresh veg and blew her mind, she preceded to look again through the menu and wants to try it all!"

"We had a meal in the dog friendly lower bar. Great atmosphere. Food was absolutely spot on. Really delicious and hot. We had a delicious Korean meat starter followed by a risotto and bacon chop. Good portion size. A good selection of dishes on the menu. We hadn’t booked but quickly got a table."

Within the medieval town walls and a stone’s throw from Conwy Castle, the Erskine Arms is a traditional Georgian coaching inn. Above the pub, you’ll find three floors of contemporary-chic rooms, most of which have views across the 13th-century walls to the castle. Everything on the pub menu is home-made, right down to the brown sauce, and the fisherman’s platter makes the most of the fresh seafood landed right by the inn.

Best Places to Eat in Conwy County
The Erskine’s slightly austere exterior hides a warm and relaxing interior. With chunky old style furniture, open fires and rugs, it is exactly what you’d want from an old Welsh inn. The building in its current form was created during Victorian times by a combination of an old Georgian Inn and a traditional 17th century sail-maker’s cottage, not the most natural of bedfellows but they do combine to create an interesting interior of different levels and rooms and architectural styles.
Best Pub Food in Conwy
Situated directly across from the train station, The Erskine Arms was traditionally a popular sports destination with its own pool, snooker and darts team. However, it was transformed in 1997 when it was taken over by Strange & Co who decided to move with the times by making it a pub which was more focused on families & food. We are certainly glad that they made this move as the result is some of the finest pub food in Conwy, all of which is made using locally sourced ingredients.

Would recommend The Erskine Arms, The Mulberry at the marina and of course the fish and chips. Trips to Beaumaris and The RSPB in Conwy also worth a visit. My only suggestion for the house, by no means a criticism, was the double bedroom lacks a full length mirror, we didn’t like having to go into the other couples bedroom to check how lovely we looked before going out !.
