Reviews Summary

Kitty Fisher's Mayfair is celebrated for its intimate, romantic ambiance and exceptionally attentive service. While many diners praise the outstanding food, particularly the crispy potatoes and well-executed mains like pork chops and steak, some reviews note inconsistency with certain dishes, such as the steak's preparation or toughness of other meats. Despite occasional culinary critiques, the reasonable pricing and charming atmosphere make it a highly recommended spot.

"An outstanding lunch. Food and service were both brilliant. There's a fabulous atmosphere and the menu is full of really excellent dishes (Though we both had the pork chop, as it sounded too good to miss!). We'll definitely be back to try everything else!
Very highly recommended"

Willem Harvey

"Atmosphere and service was fantastic.

Food is fantastic- wasn’t a big fan of the texture / how eggs were cooked in the asparagus starter but the flavour profile was lovely.

The whipped cod roe toast was great and they were kind enough to give me a GF portion.

The risotto was deceptively filling. We split it between the two of us and were genuinely stuffed.

Price was much more reasonable than expected considering we ordered a whole carafe of wine."

Elsa H

"We came to this restaurant with local friends. The crispy potatoes are outstanding. The wing rib and pork chop are both nearly prepared. They are both tender. The rib has a balance of fat and meat. This is an excellent lunch and gathering."

The most romantic restaurants in London

Since 2014, West Enders have been meowing over Kitty Fisher’s—a cozy and intimate rendezvous named after a famed 18th-century courtesan. Within this townhouse, patrons dine on seasonal wood-fired delicacies like the Brixham Hake paired with lobster bisque and fennel or the big-enough-to-share Belted Galloway Chateaubriand, whilst sipping on signature gin-based Bad Kitty cocktails or old-world vintage wines without worry of time or what happened earlier in the day. The Chocolate Ganache helps that further.

The menu, overseen by current head chef Alice Massalongo, features simple but elevated classics and modern British cuisine, with some dishes being cooked over the kitchen’s wood-fired grill. Set in Mayfair’s historic Shepard Market, the 40 cover space looks the part, decked out with dusty pink buttoned banquettes, gilt-framed art, sconces and candelabras on each table.

Why: Found in Shepherd Market, Kitty Fisher’s is a cosy restaurant which spreads itself across two floors, although it’s worth noting that tables are tightly packed together. The interiors hark back to the 18 th century (think dark wood and pillar box red studded banquettes), but Kitty Fisher’s menu is far more forward-looking. London's Best British Restaurants - Where to Eat British Food

Kitty Fisher’s is cheekily named after an 18th century lady of the night who used to live nearby, and there are cheeky hints of Spain to be found among the classic British fare on offer as well – the salsa verde accompanying the pork chop is one of them. The atmospheric restaurant in Mayfair shows little restraint on the cocktail front as well, playfully inviting its guests to have a dalliance or indulge in a bit of Hanky Panky. 10 Shepherd Market, Mayfair

Best restaurants in London to book right now – tried and tested by our local editors

When Kitty Fisher’s opened in 2014, originally with Tomos Parry in the kitchen (he has since launched the fantastic Brat in Shoreditch), it was a sure-fire hit, and one of the hardest tables in the city to book. So we snuck back in to see how they were getting on with chef Karl Goward. The restaurant’s namesake is an 18th-century courtesan known for her self-indulgence, once rumoured to have eaten a 1,000-guinea banknote on a slice of bread and butter.
