What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Oak on the Green is celebrated for its cosy, character-filled pub atmosphere and excellent, well-prepared food, particularly steaks and starters like Scotch eggs. While many praise the friendly and attentive service, a few reviewers have noted inconsistencies in service speed and occasional issues with side dishes like chips. The limited vegan/vegetarian options and potential for slow service are points to consider for some diners.
"The atmosphere was very cosy and inviting. We love old pubs full of character and this one is one of our favourites.
The service was very good, with all servers being attentive and friendly.
The food was excellent and the drinks were fabulous. If you are looking after a cosy, inviting pub with lots of character, great service and brilliant food, this is the one for you. Highly recommend!"

"Chose the Oak on the Green for my birthday lunch and really glad I did! The staff are friendly and welcoming, beer really good, I had the Masterbrew, otherwise a good selection of ales and lagers. My wife had a glass of Pinot and said it the best she'd had for a while. Our lunch was Rump steak and Sea Bream, both were perfect, followed by lemon posset and chocolate brownie. Thanks to Archie who looked after us brilliantly. There were a lot of family groups so it's a popular place. We'll definitely come back."

"We had a lovely lunch here sitting at the tables outside. The staff were kind enough to turn on the heaters so we were warm enough in spite of it being November. The food was delicious and well priced. One thing to watch out for is that the food took some time to arrive, but it was worth the wait."
