Service is frequently highlighted as friendly, attentive, and professional, with staff often going the extra mile for special occasions.
"🍽️ Food
If I could give 10 stars for the food, I absolutely would. As an Indian cuisine lover, I’ve tried dishes around the world – but this was on another level. We had the Chili Chicken (hands down the best I’ve ever had), Cheese Naan, Butter Chicken, House Black Dall, and Chicken Ruby. Every single dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. Just wow. Absolute must-try!
🪷 Ambience
The ambience is simply stunning. Every seat, every corner of the restaurant feels thoughtfully designed and inviting. We were only in Manchester for three nights and chose to dine here twice – that speaks volumes. If you're planning to go after 5 PM, a reservation is strongly recommended. Before that, walking in worked fine for us.
🤝 Service
Service was exceptional from start to finish. Our server Alberto was one of the friendliest and most professional we've ever met – he guided us with great menu tips when we couldn’t decide (everything sounded amazing!). Everyone else – from the host at the door to those bringing out the dishes – was equally warm and welcoming."

"This is quite simply one of our favourite restaurants in the world. The food is next level. Each course is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff are also always very friendly and attentive.
The building itself also deserves a special mention as it like a scene from a bygone era. Amazing, I would come here every day if I could 👍"

"Had a great experience at Dishoom Manchester. The food was amazing and full of flavour, and well worth the money. Our server, Akos, was brilliant - really knowledgeable, the perfect amount of attentive, and kept everything running smoothly without making us feel rushed. Fast but relaxed service and a lovely atmosphere. It was my birthday, and they surprised me with a little dessert on the house - nothing too over the top, just a really thoughtful touch which was perfect for me. Would definitely recommend and will be back!x"

13 Best Breakfast and Brunch Spots in Manchester, By A Local Foodie
Dishoom might have evolved into a UK mega chain, but its breakfast offering remains tip-top. Familiar items like granola, the humble omelette or a bacon roll are given an exquisite eastern twist, with Asian spices firing up the flavours. There are plenty of vegan options too, including a full fry-up with tofu scramble.
Best vegan restaurants in Manchester
A familiar name that undoubtedly pulls in the crowds, one of the best things aboutDishoom’s northern outpost is the significantly shorter wait times owing to its Tardis-like layout; up front is the airy Bombay-café style room that you’re used to fromDishoom, whilst outback sits a majestic wood-panelled hall that truly makes the most of the former Freemason building. As for the food, a separate vegan menu is packed with adapted classics including a version of the famous naan roll that uses Beyond Meat sausages, abiding spiced chickpea favourite Chole Chawal and silky caramelised basmati rice pudding. Our top vegan pick would be the chilli broccoli salad, a Vada Pau and okra fires on the city.
Best Breakfast & Brunch Venues in Manchester
Dishoom is a hugely popular and elegantly discerning chain of Indian restaurants, with sumptuous aesthetics inspired by the old Irani cafés of Bombay (now Mumbai), a sumptuous building on Manchester’s Bridge Street, and a sumptuous breakfast menu. The bacon naans are a zingy blend of savoury and sweet, with cream cheese, tomato-chilli jam and fresh coriander leaves merging together perfectly as each one emerges freshly baked from the tandoor oven. Instead of the classic Full English breakfast, you’ll be drawn towards Dishoom’s take – the ‘Full Bombay’ – which includes akuri (spicy scrambled eggs), char-striped smoked streaky bacon, peppery Shropshire pork sausages, and masala baked beans.

The 10 best places in Manchester to eat gluten-free food
It’s especially good that Dishoom has a comprehensive gluten-free menu because the last thing you want when visiting a place like Dishoom is to see everyone else ordering loads of amazing dishes and you’re left looking down at one the two things suitable on the menu. Whether picking from dishes that are naturally suitable or classics from the menu that have been tweaked, if you’re eating gluten-free you’re not going to feel short-changed. Luckily, most of the main menu for lunch onwards is already suitable with the main changes coming to breakfast.
The best places for breakfast and brunch in Manchester
Serving up a taste of the old Iranian cafes of Bombay, breakfast staples at Dishoom are given an Eastern twist - and are all the better for it. Its naan rolls are all freshly baked - by hand, and to order - in the tandoor, then graced with a dollop of cream cheese, tomato chilli jam and fresh coriander leaves - ensuring you never have a bog-standard bacon sandwich ever again. The venue, situated inside a former ancient Manchester brotherhood meeting place, also serves plenty of vegan options too, including an all-singing-all-dancing fry-up.

The 30 Best Restaurants In Manchester, UK
Mumbai, the financial center of India, has a delightful secret: Hidden in the alleyways are dozens of Irani cafes opened by the Zoroastrian refugees who made the city their home. Manchester restaurant Dishoom follows these traditions in more ways than one. Not only does the food pay homage to Irani-Indian cuisine, but it's also hidden in one of the city's most fascinating buildings — the 1920s, Grade II listed Manchester Hall, which was once a secret meeting spot for the Freemasons.
The best halal restaurants in Manchester
Dishoom Manchester brings divine tastes of Bombay’s Irani cafés to life with a menu that promises to transport diners to the bustling streets and aromatic kitchens of Mumbai. At the heart of their offerings is the Chef’s Manchester Special, the nalli nihari Biryani, a celebratory dish featuring tender lamb shank layered with rice and caramelised onions, enriched with kaleji raita and nihari gravy. The small plates at Dishoom are a celebration of diverse flavours and textures.
The best halal food in Manchester
There are plenty of reasons to heap praise on Dishoom, and their halal offerings are no exception. All the lamb and chicken on the menu is halal, though they do stress that alcohol is served, and bacon makes an appearance on that breakfast menu (though measures have been taken to prevent cross-contamination). If you’re looking for delicious Indian food in a beautiful environment which caters for both halal and non-halal diners, you better get in that famous Dishoom queue.
The best brunches in Manchester
Breakfast is served at the Manchester outpost of Dishoom until 11.45am, so it would take a true stickler to argue whether or not this technically sits in the brunch window. When the surroundings are as opulent and dazzling as this, it very much gets a pass in our book. The signature bacon naans aside, there are Irani scrambled eggs, weightless Parsi omelettes, and the full 'Big Bombay' breakfast, which is every bit as sturdy as is it sounds (ditto the vegan equivalent).
The Best Restaurants in Manchester
The impact that Dishoom’s Manchester outpost has had on the city can perhaps best be defined by its specialty dish: the nalli nihari biryani. This dish, which is exclusive to Manchester, involves a tender shank of lamb getting layered up with rice and caramelised onions before being sealed beneath a pastry blanket and served with kaleji (chicken liver) raita and nihari gravy. Just like Manchester, it’s a dish that doesn’t pull its punches or do things in half measures.
Manchester Is England's Most Exciting Food City
Dishoom, the Manchester outpost of a popular London café, opened in 2018 inside the former Masonic Hall with its original stained glass windows. The restaurant serves Iranian and Indian dishes flecked with the occasional British influence for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. To honor the building's heritage, paraphernalia from Indian freemasonry was incorporated into the design while replica photos of former Bombay Grand Masters and vintage photographs line the wall.
Manchester – Fantastic Feasts & Where To Find Them
An Indian restaurant is usually the last place I’d go for a glass of wine, but Dishoom Manchester had a surprisingly good bar, even if the wine glasses were naff. Decent enough red and white wines were promptly served, and did a good job of standing up to the different flavours that laid ahead. At the time of writing, the cheapest bottle of wine at Dishoom Manchester, excluding service charge, was a 2017 French Merlot/Grenache blend by Roc d’Opale at £23.50.

HORRIFIC. Went for lunch on a Monday with my mum - both of us with allergies mine is dairy mums is gluten. The meals came with no allergy sticks after advising two different waitresses that we both had allergies. (Baring in mind I have a dairy allergy) was served my meal which I started to eat to then have one of the waiters turn up to the table to tell me ‘word on the street is your meal is actually incorrect and you’ve been served dairy’.
