Arlo is one of the most popular eateries in Jesmond and its breakfast certainly draws the crowds. If you can manage to resist the counter of cakes (in my eyes you can definitely enjoy cake for a breakfast at the weekend) then take a look at their brunch menu which serves up everything from toasted teacakes to crushed avocado on Toast. On my last visit I went veggie and ordered the Cooked Veggie Breakfast which came with some amazing dipping sides - you've not lived until you've dipped your toast in hummus, guacamole and sweet chilli sauce.

Breakfast runs from 08:30 until 12:00 6 days a week, and 09:00 until 13:00 on a Sunday - perfect for the lazier amongst you who like a lie in after a night out!. They provide a huge menu, with everything from toast (for those who can’t handle much to eat after a night out) to huge cooked breakfasts, with waffles and stotties in between.

Compared to some other restaurants in Jesmond, Arlo has a more relaxed setting, ideal for a long lunch, coffee catch up or an calm evening meal. With a varied menu from brunch indulgent breakfasts of Full English or Smashed Avo to more elaborate meals like Korean beef salad to a choice of small plates for dinner or a full meal to yourself!

Jesmond has always been ahead of the rest of Tyneside in terms of food, trends and fashion so it’s not surprising to find some culinary delights hidden away between its red brick terraces. One restaurant that stands head and shoulders above the rest is Arlo. Arlo is a sort of culinary chameleon, changing its colours as the day progresses.

Although this restaurant isn’t necessarily the first place that comes to mind when thinking of desserts, their cake selection is impossible to choose from – from their Traditional Red Velvet, to Biscoff (as well as Vegan Biscoff!), to a White chocolate, baileys, and espresso cheesecake!

Beautiful setting, excellent warm and attentive staff, absolutely delicious food and drinks. We hadn’t booked so we’re lucky to get a spot as it was evidently popular and deservedly so.

This homely little café in the heart of Jesmond serves delicious breakfasts and brunches until 12 everyday accept Sunday which has it all day long.
