Overlooking the harbour and with panoramic views of the Camel Estuary, Greens is open for breakfast through to dinner in their restaurant and outside terrace, which is perfect for summery days, and is a lovely stop off after a stroll along Hawker’s Cove. Food is seasonal and local with a focus on prime cuts of meat and fabulous fish dishes, while vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options are available.

Whether you’ve been trotting along the Camel Trail or frolicking on the nearby beaches, the Mussel Box makes a sublime place to sample the taste of Cornwall beside the harbour. Just a pebble’s throw from the harbour, your dog can join you in the sunny conservatory of Ainsworth’s Italian-style Caffé Rojano, serving traditional Napoletana-style pizzas, fresh pasta and seasonal small plates. This celebrated, Michelin Guide-featured restaurant launched by Rick Stein and his then-wife Jill in 1975, is open daily for lunch and dinner. They offer a three-course, set lunch menu for £30, comprising of Japanese fish cakes, grilled hake and chocolate mousse for dessert. Lobster thermidor, scallops and an Indonesian seafood curry are on the sample menu, along with an array of non-seafood options and there’s even a children’s menu.

If you’re looking for some amazing views and a bit of crazy golf then say hello to Greens of Padstow. Greens offer wonderful views of the Camel Estuary and town whilst also giving you breakfast, lunch, and evening menus that are all made fresh to order. It started life as a pitch and putt many years ago but has been thoroughly modernised and is elegant but dog and child friendly.

Food aside – which is pretty special I must admit – the wine list is also very impressive. A broad range of wines, from Italy and beyond, there really is something for everyone. Traditionally they used to serve Italian wines only, but last time I visited I enjoyed a lovely Gruner Veltliner and was really impressed at the choice they offer, as well as catering for all budgets.

Take your dog for a walk along the Camel Trail, which follows the path of a disused railway line along the shore of the Camel Estuary to Wadebridge. But take care in the height of summer when it can get busy with bikes. On these days explore the adjoining footpaths or head for the quieter stretches of the trail further upstream between Wadebridge and Bodmin.

For a healthy and tasty breakfast option in Padstow, I’d highly recommend Greens of Padstow. This café is known for its fresh and organic ingredients, as well as its commitment to sustainability – which I think is always admirable. I’d suggest trying their gorgeous homemade granola, complete with Greek yoghurt and berry compote, for a lighter bite.

Mini golf and gourmet food don’t tend to be in the same sentence, let alone the same location, that’s until you visit Greens of Padstow. A popular spot thanks to its glorious terrace with views across the water and quality food, this isn’t the obvious choice for a Padstow restaurant, but it’ll certainly impress.

Imagine starting your day with delicious food overlooking stunning views of Padstow Harbour then Greens is the place for you. This restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with its outside patio with plenty of seating. While you can eat any meal of the day here, this has become a favourite breakfast spot of ours!

If you prefer a sit-down affair, fuel up for the day with a full Cornish breakfast and sublime sea views at Greens of Padstow (pictured left). If you’ve got kids in tow, this is our top spot for any meal, with mini golf to keep the children entertained while you savour the food and scenery.

This used to be a pitch-and-putt course but it’s now a modern café serving wholesome dishes, such as a ploughman’s made with local Davidstow Cheddar or crumbled goat’s cheese super salad. The mini-golf course has had a makeover by landscape gardeners and is reopening in spring 2018.

Greens of Padstow is found high up above the harbour with views across the Camel Estuary. An outdoor terrace allows you to soak up the sunshine as you tuck into their varied and reasonably priced menu. And don’t forget to sample their delicious homemade cakes.

The menu focuses on fresh, locally caught fish such as Cornish plaice, monkfish and hake. There is also a great selection of steaks, pasta and sides. The prices are very reasonable given the outstanding location and there is both indoor and outdoor dining.
