Jaime and Steph Garbutt, the team behind Figbar and Salt in Norwich, have created the ultimate box of delights – a mezze of sweet and savoury favourites. Costing £35 (delivery is free to locations within two miles of their base at St John Maddermarket and £5 for locations between two to three miles away) they include a pot of lemon and herb butterbean dip, two servings of pea, mint, coriander and lime pearl barley with feta, two chipotle and parmesan cheese twists and two spicy merguez sausage rolls, plus two chocolate gianduja and hazelnut brownies, two stout mocha cakes, two funfetti cakes with passionfruit curd and cream cheese icing and two of the classic Figbar jaffa cakes. You can also add extras to your order including their famous hot chocolate – just add milk and stir.

Taking tea and cake to new heights, the pastries and puddings here are crafted by Executive Chef Jamie Garbutt - an experienced pastry chef with a decorated history of working in Michelin star restaurants. It is a small place so it can fill up quickly but the aromatic sugary scent that flows out of the cafe is more than enough to entice anyone in.

I’ve visited Figbar several times now and have enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon birthday treat alongside the bearded birthday boy back in September when they had just opened. Their tasty coffee and tempting melt-in-the-mouth mini chocolate bundt cakes (these beauties will make Marcus & his team at Nordic Ware UK proud!) got us well and truly hooked.

(Not much room for buggies in the cafe and there’s stairs, so not very toddler friendly, but they have high chairs in the cafe and don’t forget, you can also pick up Figbar treats and hot chocolate from their market stall).
