A Michelin experience doesn't need to cost you hundreds...you can enjoy a three-course meal at Alchemilla for £85pp. ⭐ £85 may seem like a lot of money (I get it) but trust me, that's way, way more affordable than most Michelin restaurants, and you get so many extra snacks included that there is no way you're leaving hungry. Alchemilla on Derby Rd is also totally unpretentious - wear what you want...

Reviews Summary

Alchemilla is highly praised for its innovative, flavour-packed tasting menus and exceptional service, creating a memorable fine-dining experience. The stylish, historic setting and rooftop bar add to its appeal. While the rich flavors are a highlight for many, some found the truffle tart base difficult to cut. Overall, it's considered a top-tier destination for special occasions.

"We were here to celebrate a birthday and our anniversary. The 7 courses are really nice. All courses came in very rich flavour, which I could imagine not always the preference for everyone. But we really enjoyed.

The only suggestion to the dishes is on the last course of truffle tart - the tart base was too far to be cut but knife or fork. It would be easier to handle if it goes a bit softer."

"A Birthday Dinner to Remember!

Had the best birthday dinner ever at Michelin-starred Alchemilla! If you’re dining here, definitely go for the wine pairings—they truly elevate the experience. Each wine was carefully selected to complement every course, and the moody atmosphere with gorgeous lighting made it even more special.

The service was fantastic, and the food? Absolutely incredible. My partner said the duck was the best he’s ever had, and I was obsessed with the desserts and their perfectly matched wines. They truly lived up to their Michelin star!

We’ll definitely be back—can’t wait for the next visit!"

Nilee Gamage

"This was my husband’s birthday present. It was a 2 hour drive over and was worth every minute! 4.5 hours, 12 courses and 7 wines. Could not fault a single mouthful. Drinks on the terrace to start was a lovely touch. Dan has done an excellent job pairing the wines, I don’t usually like dessert wines but the last two were particularly beautiful. Fantastic atmosphere. Alex was really friendly and chatty and even brought us extra snacks because they were just so good! The mushroom dish was a stunning stand out in a delicious tasting menu. We’ve been to quite a few Michelin star restaurants and this was easily our favourite. Will definitely come again."

Rapidly earning a Michelin star two years after opening (and retaining it this February), it offers five-, seven- or 10-course veg, vegan, pescatarian and meat tasting menus, with a focus on seasonal and often foraged ingredients. In winter , head chef and owner Alex Bond livens up his menu with ferments and pickles – dashes of preserved camomile, pickled green strawberries or fermented wild garlic have all featured. Keep your eyes peeled for his upcoming venture opening next door, Mollis – a fried chicken shop, but not as you know it.

A wonderful setting for this one star Michelin restaurant within the redbrick vaulted arches of a Victorian property where wealthy lace merchants once stored their carriages. The menu: Diners can expect dishes such as lobster, chanterelle, burnt lemon and brown butter, with truffle as a £15 supplement; celeriac cooked in whey, squid, black garlic and green olive, and aged beef, burnt aubergine and smoked egg yolk.
