Fat Hippo Nottingham

A Northern export that has slowly seeped into the Midlands, Fat Hippo finally landed in Nottingham in the chaos of 2020 and didn't disappoint on its mission statement.

Fat Hippo is top of my list when I'm craving a burger that's a bit out of the ordinary. The 'PB+JJ' burger, with its combination of peanut butter and bacon jam, might sound unconventional, but it's a flavour explosion that just works. The atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming, making it a great spot for a casual meal with friends. Plus, their range of sides, like the tater tots smothered in sauce and bacon bits, are the perfect accompaniment. It's a place that never disappoints when you're in the mood for indulgent comfort food.

If you’re a fan of stacked, juicy, dirty burgers, Fat Hippo is one of the best around. A chain burger restaurant that has made waves wherever it has opened a store, Fat Hippo is one of those places where you’ll end up with cheese and sauce all over your face and fingers after eating it, but you won’t care one bit!. This is what makes it a good takeaway in Nottingham, as you get all the toppings, some great spicy chicken wing sides, dirty fries, and many different burger toppings.

Chose here due to dietary requirements and previous good experiences. Booked the table for 5.45pm, by 6.30pm we still hadn't received our food so queried with staff as people who came in after us had theirs and we were on our way to a show that started at 7.30pm. Was told our food was next, 15 mins later still no food....we are then told there was an error and our order didn't print in the kitchen did we still want the food and they could prepare it in 5 mins.

Fat Hippo Nottingham is based on Broad Street in Hockley, in the heart of the Creative Quarter within Nottingham city centre. The area is home to graffiti street art, music venues and other independent businesses and is only a five minutes’ walk from the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham. The nearest tram stop to Fat Hippo Nottingham is Lace Market which is only a two minutes’ walk to the restaurant.

Dirty Burgers’ is the motto of Fat Hippo, and that basically sums it up!. Fat Hippo will hit the spot if you’re hungry and looking for something to heal you from a crazy night out, or to keep you going in the middle of a busy revision period. Maybe not a great one for a date though, as you’ll probably end up with burger sauce all over your face, they are soooo juicy!
