What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hassop Station Cafe is praised for its delicious food, particularly the hearty breakfasts, pizzas, and homemade cakes, all served in a scenic location along the Monsal Trail. While many highlight the friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere, some reviews mention slow service during busy periods and concerns about the value for money on certain dishes, along with accessibility issues for wheelchair users.
"Just been for morning brunch. Such a cheery place in spite of the Bank Holiday weather. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome, as did the bright surroundings and fresh sprays of daffodils on the tables.
The food was amazing. We had the full English, salmon and poached eggs on sourdough toast and a children's beans in toast. The accompanying drinks were hot which is always a plus!
The shop was more expensive than I remember from previous visits but nice to browse around.
A really positive experience. Thanks to all concerned."
Lesley Ingamells
"The cafe does the most amazing food. It is popular and so sometimes there is a wait but the staff will tell you upfront. Food is ordered at the counter. We had pulled pork ciabatta which was tasty and filling but even better was the assortment of home made cakes. Various brownies, rocky roads, blondies, flapjacks and scones. They were so yummy we bought more to take home."

"We had a very disappointing experience at the Hassop Station Cafe. When we first arrived, we were impressed by the extensive menu after a very long walk. We ordered at the till, but the person who took our order didn’t input it correctly. After a while, we received one of our meals and patiently waited for the other. However, that one never came so I went to check on what’s going on.
They had only put through one meals despite there clearly being two of us?
Oh well, mistakes happen and I reordered the second meal. While dealing with that, my partner’s fish finger sandwich had gone stone cold. So she went to look for cutlery so we could share it (rather than make a scene and send it back).
There were none in any of the canteen style trays provided because it was quite busy, fair enough. So she asked a staff member for a knife - only to be met with an eye roll and a patronising response to look in the trays despite already doing so. It just felt like we were being an inconvenience to the staff.
Overall, we were looking forward to visiting after seeing good reviews online and on social media - we just had a disappointing experience. The food was average but expensive."
