Reviews Summary

Wet Wok is praised for its stunning sea views and authentic Cantonese, Malaysian, and Singaporean cuisine, often described as flavorful and served in generous portions at reasonable prices. The family-run establishment is lauded for its welcoming service and great value, though some reviews mention instances of feeling rushed and a decline in service quality compared to previous visits.

"Our visit was on the 8th of November 2024.
Just the two of us. Booked online a couple weeks in advance and received email confirmation of the booking.
Staff are very attentive and thorough - they are obviously well drilled and experienced. Efficient and polite, could perhaps be a little more friendly, there was a younger waitress that was very friendly and smiling.
Extensive menu. We went for the set menu B for two people with added soft noodles.
All the food, from starters, to duck course, the the mains and sides were very good and served quickly, but never rushed. Plenty of food for two people. Very well priced. Around £70 for two of us with drinks, starters, crispy duck, 3 main dishes and 3 sides of fried rice, vegetables and noodles.
Would happily go again.
The takeaway menu is the same menu, but 20% cheaper."

"Fantastic Chinese experience in an amazing location right on the seafront. The restaurant has been family owned for many years. The choice of dishes is what I’d consider higher end than the average Chinese take away. I had the 1/4 duck pancake option which was very good. I was slightly underwhelmed with the chicken satay as I thought the satay sauce was a little bland for my taste. Very large portions with plenty of pancakes allowed 2 of us to share. A decent wine list at affordable prices rounded out the whole meal and made me want to revisit. Booking is advisable as there were no free tables on the Saturday evening. All this right on my doorstep 🤗"

"Great location for a Chinese restaurant, located below the Hoe, on the small harbour. You are so close to the sea, you can literally touch it.

I stopped off on a Sunday evening. I was cordially welcomed by the staff and directed to a seat. The table was at the rear of the restaurant, so the view was obscured, so a tip if you want a sea view, book in advance 😀. The limited view across the stunning Plymouth Sound was however lovely.

I was served quickly and ordered drinks (Stella Artois on draught), then food.

I had King Do style spare ribs filled by chicken and green pepper with black bean sauce, with egg fried rice.

The ribs arrived quickly and we're very tasty. They came with Western cutlery, but I was able to ask for chopsticks, as I did not wish to get my hands too dirty.

As noted the ribs were great, but I would have preferred a finger bowl to clean my fingers. Likewise, cheap paper napkins should really be replaced by cotton napkins. I know it may be a pain to clean, but this would really up the scale of the restaurant.

The main course was again excellent. Fresh vegetables, lots of chicken and the rice was perfect. I enjoyed the course greatly and passed my thanks to the chef 👨‍🍳.

When I left the restaurant was full. This probably explains why it has been voted best Chinese restaurant in Plymouth."
