Reviews Summary

Angelo's Preston is a beloved Italian institution known for its friendly service and extensive menu offering classic Italian fare. Many diners praise the value of the set menus and the quality of dishes like calamari and pasta. However, some reviews mention inconsistencies in food preparation, with a few dishes falling short of expectations.

"Absolutely amazing!
I came here without a reservation but they still gave me a table for two and welcomed us with open arms. Drinks were served really fast. Food impeccable. Music fits the mood it’s not too loud but not too quiet.
Food here again is amazing I recommend the king scallops and the lamb shanks. Insanely good!!! Although I had some allergies they fully understood and were so polite and flexible.
Highly recommend"

"Really fantastic place. Incredibly crisp and scarily spotless decor. Wonderful ambience. Warm and accommodating staff and experts in the fields of food and drink. I had Incredibly well cooked belly pork to start. I swapped a piece of belly pork for a friend's piece of calamari. We both felt like we'd got a bargain in that deal. One of the few times I've experienced food envy because despite the fact that I was ecstatic with my belly pork I noticed the Black Pudding starter the lad at the side of me ordered. The octopus with chorizo main was delicious and would definitely order it again. We ordered an insane amount of Cheese and Mexican garlic breads and they went, quick! Will definitely be visiting again without eleven, slobbering neanderthals."

"calamari is crispy and full of squid favors. the sauce in carbonara is a bit too much ( just my 2 percent) yet the favors of beacon is quite rich. Spaghetti also al dente. Fudge cake is a bit too sweet and taste of chocolate is not rich at all.

Seating environment is very cozy. Server are good and i were attended promptly.

we both ordered meal deal menu @ £21.9
a main dish + a starter OR a dessert"

Memories of Preston's cafes and restaurants

By the 1980s Preston had a diverse selection of places to dine with foreign food clearly becoming more popular, for Italian dishes there was Angelo’s on Avenham Street, Emillos on Fishergate and Tiggis on Guildhall Street; for a spicy Indian dish you could visit the Bengal on Friargate, the Kismet on Derby Street or the Maja Raja on Church Street; while other continental cuisine was available at the Bistro French on Avenham Street, the Danish Kitchen on Lune Street, Peppers Bistro on Hill Street, the Bodega on Cannon Street and Danielle’s in Miller Arcade.

Review: Meiz, Preston - the Japanese eatery we're delighted exists in the city - Luke Beardsworth

Eateries like Plau, Café Bar, Angelos, Fino Tapas, We Don't Give a Fork, Kim Ji, Smashed and bars such as Winckley Ale House, the Conti, All Hopes No Promises and Niko (my god, Niko!) make up a city centre we can all be proud of. However, like most smaller cities, we've often lacked a place we can sit and have proper noodles, sushi and ramen - a Japanese restaurant.
