Reviews Summary
Cafe Diwali is highly praised for its authentic and flavorful Indian street food, with many reviewers highlighting dishes like fish curry and dosa. The cozy ambiance and friendly service are frequently mentioned as positives, creating a welcoming dining experience. However, some diners have noted slow service during busy periods and found portion sizes to be larger than expected, leading to some feeling it was expensive.
"This restaurant has a wide variety of options for my egg-free and dairy-free allergies. I was particularly impressed that I wasn’t just looking at a vegan menu, there are meat options where dairy free is indicated!
The food was absolutely delicious- definitely recommend the pakora starter and the fish curry main, and I was told the naan is really tasty too. The atmosphere was friendly and with a buzz but not too loud- we arrived at 7pm on a Saturday without a booking and so glad they squeezed us in but think we were the last lucky ones! Thank you Cafe Diwali for a really nice evening and beautifully presented, delicious food."

"What a wonderful place to eat! The food was fantastic authentic Keralan Indian food, and the servers were absolutely delightful to speak to! Great sense of humour too. 5* would recommend. Meat is halal too btw"

"Easily my favourite Indian restaurant in Salisbury. We went for an early supper on Friday and sat in the garden. It was so peaceful and tranquil. Hard to believe you’re right in the centre of Salisbury. I had a tandoori platter and my husband had a prawn curry. Both were absolutely delicious and all the pickles and sides were so yummy. Service very prompt and friendly."

The Best Restaurants In Salisbury, Wiltshire
Back in Salisbury centre, and to Cafe Diwali, a vividly rendered restaurant just seconds from the magnificent cathedral. The menu is inspired by the diverse flavours of Indian street food and snacks, leaning on the lighter side of the country’s culinary canon with signatures like the always-invigorating samosa chaat, its yoghurt, mint chutney and tamarind dressing just the livener a tired palate needs. Even better are the dosa plates, crisp and airy, and served with three pots of chutney – sambar, coconut and tomato – for dipping and dredging.
Favourite places to eat in Salisbury
Cafe Diwali is just off of the main high street and is therefore perhaps a little overlooked compared to the places I have already mentioned. For an intimate dining experience that might be part of a romantic getaway, celebrating a special occasion, or simply an excuse to have an evening away from the children, it is one of the most relaxing places to eat in the city. It is a popular place for group dining, so make sure you ring ahead to book you and your significant other a cosy corner table for two.
