Most afternoons, if you wander into The Dunvegan – the course’s unofficial clubhouse a chip and a putt up the street from the 18th hole – you’ll probably spot players anxiously waiting to hear their fate; knees bouncing, eyes darting back and forth from the clock, pints quietly nursed. It’s understandable – should you find your name among the lucky few to have been allocated a tee time, a round at the world’s most famous golf course beckons in just 48 hours.

An informal & friendly restaurant specialising in thick, juicy char-grilled steaks whilst also offering other mouth-watering dishes such as a superb rack of lamb and fresh seafood. The restaurant is owned and operated by ‘hands on’ golfers, which will become evident by the 45 photos and prints of Open Champions (many of whom have dined in the restaurant) holding the coveted Claret Jug.

Many visitors to St Andrews have had post round drinks in the Dunvegan, but many don’t realize that the pub is a hotel. Owners Jack and Sheena have rooms above the bar, as well as a suite above Auchterlonie’s golf shop across the street. A full breakfast is included in the rates at the Dunvegan, and the owners and staff give the place a very friendly atmosphere.

The friendly Golfer's Corner Lounge Bar, which generates a great golfing atmosphere, has been described by the Golf Channel as "one of the best hangouts in the world of golf". The bar has developed into a true 19th hole and is not to be missed. It offers a fine selection of beers, ales, and spirits as well as over 50 malt whiskies.

The Dunvegan Hotel is located in the centre of St Andrews, just a short walk from the University and the Old Course. This 4-star hotel has excellent user ratings. The hotel offers a range of amenities including a restaurant, free Wi-Fi in public areas and dry cleaning services.

The Golfers Lounge at Dunvegan is the spot for golfers to recharge. It’s friendly, full of other golfers and has a cracking atmosphere. The lounge is covered from top to bottom with photos of world-famous golfers and has really welcoming energy.

Good, freshly prepared, homemade meals are served using fresh, local produce. The menu includes a variety of sandwiches, burgers, fish & chips and steak pie. The Dunvegan also offers bar snacks such as nachos and chicken wings.
