What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Boathouse Charlestown garners praise for its lovely ambiance, friendly service, and scenic location, particularly its outdoor seating. While many enjoy dishes like the seafood sharer and Sunday roasts, some diners find the food quality inconsistent or the prices a bit high compared to other establishments. The vegetarian options are noted as a positive aspect for those with dietary needs.
"Absolutely lovely restaurant and food. Very light and airy. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite.
The starters were super tasty and came out quickly. I chose the meat pizza and my wife had the lamb ( photos attached). Wasn't waiting long between courses and wow we were full. I've brought half the pizza home!
Desserts came out looking too good to eat. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely be coming back."

"Great food, but a bit on the pricey side.
While we were very grateful to find The Boathouse, especially with convenient parking right outside, the prices of the meals were on par with Central London! Unfortunately despite the prices being on the higher side, the food fell just a bit short.
That said though, the Seafood Sharer platter was sublime and had some of the best Mussels I've had in years!
I tried the "Meat your maker" pizza, which was dissapointing as not all the meat mentioned on the menu was present (Bacon most notably) and the chicken slices looked (and tasted) as if they came straight out of a Tescos cold meat pack. There was little in the way of flavor for the Pizza.
The Boathouse Burger had some tasty bits, but was greasy and drowning in sauce, which meant the bottom half of the burger was mush before we got to enjoy any of it. The multitude of ingredients, combined with a Brioche bun meant it was exceptionally rich and we struggled to finish it.
The Blade of beef with Mash and veg was sublime and we loved it! Was the only thing outside the Mussels that we would come back for, would highly recommend 👌
Staff were friendly and service was okay given how few there were compared to how busy it was."

"Lovely spot.
Friendly staff.
Lovely sunny garden
Lunch wasn't great sadly.
Not very warm. My nut roast was mushy and tasted processed no real flavours my husbands beef was shredded and then squashed together to make a patty type thing. We both had the Sunday roast. Cauliflower cheese didn't really taste of anything. Such a shame as it looked amazing and was a lovely size.
Menu choice looked good such a shame"

All in all, it was perfect place for travelling to St Austell. Satisfactory breakfast except for the porridge, enjoyed it. The location was central, brilliant in the conservatory for breakfast.
