What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sharky's Fish & Chips is highly praised for its authentic, delicious fish and chips, especially the real potato chips and traditionally fried fish. Many reviewers highlight the generous portion sizes and friendly service as key reasons for repeat visits. However, one review expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the food quality, citing burned oil and undercooked batter, and a negative staff interaction regarding allergens.
"Just had fish and chips from this place this evening and wow... I don't know how to start this but the food was amazing. Can't believe how delicious the chips were, I was so full and just couldn't stop eating the chips. They were nice crispy outside and soft inside. One of the best chips I ever had. The fish was delicious as well. I will be back again when we visit St. Ives again. Thanks!"

"We stopped by Sharky's Fish and Chips in St Ives for a quick takeaway and were seriously impressed. We had the cod, chips and curry sauce – and honestly, it was the best we've ever had.
The chips are cooked a bit differently to your usual chippy, and it really shows – they had loads of flavour and a great texture. The cod was a really generous portion, beautifully flaky and cooked just right. And the curry sauce was spot on – tasty, not too spicy, and the perfect consistency.
On top of all that, the prices were really decent and lady behind the counter was lovely. Great value for such good quality food"

"No ratings fort atmosphere as I've only ever known it as a take away.
Best local chippy. Especially now the Balancing Eel has been sold.
Real potatoes none of that reformed dehydrated nonsense you get at most places. The fish always tastes just that bit fresher than the others, even in the winter when business has got to be slower. They also use solid oil whether beef fat or vegetable I couldn't say. Either way they are cooked in the traditional way and you have to eat it while it's hot.
The photo below is my left overs which I'm about to devour. They always give enough for two meals, as I don't believe in unnecessary waste, I always enjoy a Sharkey's treat twice in a week 😂"

Not the closest fish and chip shop to most of our St Ives cottages that are within the Downalong area of St Ives. However, we say it’s really rather good so well worth the walk or bus ride up!. Portions are very decent and not greasy at all.
