What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Fat Badger is lauded for its fantastic location within York's city walls, offering a blend of traditional pub charm and comfortable accommodations. Guests frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff, particularly mentioning 'Mike' for exceptional service. The food, especially the Sunday roast and burgers, receives positive reviews, though some minor issues like room size and plug socket placement have been noted.
"Loved the location just inside the city walls. They have done a great job of retaining the feel of a very old pub, while at the same time, making it comfortable for today's travellers expectations. The room which we were upgraded to was lovely & the service from each of the staff that we came in contact with was excellent. I would like to make special mention of Michael (who I think was probably the manager) for looking after us the way he did. He certainly wore many hats during our stay as every time we turned around, there was Michael doing everything from making sure we were happy with our room to helping serve our dinner in The Secret Garden. Thank you Michael for helping to make our stay so comfortable & enjoyable."

"Just stayed 2 nights at this delightful pub/hotel. Atmosphere was great. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend it to anyone although stairs might prove a challenge for the less mobile. Location was great and the secret garden at the back was fantastic. Didn't eat there but other visitors there had very nice meals."
Brenda Brooks
"Stayed here for 2 nights, can't fault the cleanliness of hotel and breakfast was great it's also a great location for tourist spots. Couple of little niggles hence low score... all plug sockets were located behind furniture ( room 4 ) so had to move things in an extremely small room to get to them also was told by pleasant staff member on our 2nd day that we could leave our luggage when we checked out and then collect when we were getting train ( also on website) to then be told by another person that we weren't able to. Overall a nice stay."
