The attention to detail in the Pig’s cooking is exacting, as is its sourcing (Haxby breads, Brindisa chorizo, Dama’s ace Yorkshire take on halloumi). Even after all these years, you can still expect to queue at peak times for eggs benedict or a Reuben sandwich.

If you’re a single traveller looking to make friends, and not fussed about the taste of your coffee, as long as it’s hot and sweet, then the Pig & Pastry is the place to be!. A small, very popular cafe on Bishopthorpe Road, the bijou layout and queues of eager gourmets mean that, if you have spare seats at your table, you’re likely to end up sharing with strangers – great for backpackers who see new friends as being as important as new experiences. In our opinion, you can’t get better than a brunch at Pig & Pastry in York. Possibly (probably) the best brunch spot in York, Pig and Pastry is located on Bishopthorpe Road (Bishy Road, for the locals) and is one of the best feel-good cafes I’ve ever been to. First of all, the food is amazing, with a big focus on local suppliers. Second of all, it’s incredibly priced for how good everything is—avocado on toast for £6?!?

Pig and Pastry is a delicious and highly rated brunch spot on one of York’s cutest streets. If there is no seating (as they don’t take reservations as well), head over to Robinson’s for an equally tasty brunch spot that has a bit more space!. Robinson’s has perfected the mushroom truffle toast and avocado toast.

Another brunch place that was hugely popular with our readers. Located on the beautiful Bishy road, this place is worth a detour out of the city centre. With dish names like ‘The Benedict Cumberland’, you know you’re in for a treat.
