Reviews Summary

BARCA Pier & Wine Bar is lauded for its stunning waterfront location on the Potomac River, offering a Mediterranean escape with flavorful tapas and refreshing sangria. Diners rave about the exceptional service and vibrant atmosphere, making it a top choice for celebrations. However, some recent reviews suggest a decline in food quality, with specific dishes receiving criticism and one diner reporting feeling unwell.

"We were able to secure a table for six people, a baby in a stroller and a dog on the outside wine bar patio on a busy holiday weekend! The food was so good, drinks were great and we were brought a dish of ice water for our dog. Loved the warm & attentive service here, highly recommend"

Yasmean Tamoor-Snyder

"From walking up to a hostess station with Potomac River in background sweet Nora took our reservation as we were ushered to the bar to wait for our table of 4 seat to be available. Drinks at the bar were good, bartender was friendly….after waiting over an hour, the manager Nora brought us to our 4-top, great table right on the water!
Our server “Z” was friendly and helpful…everything we ordered was delicious, however, we did need to send the Ahi Tuna back…it was old and discolored. The staff was friendly, took that plate off our bill and we ordered Lamp-chops in place of the Ahi…and they were excellent.
All in all, we rate this place high…staff was friendly, service was excellent and the food was delicious."

Paul St Germain

"We really enjoyed dining on the pier. The hosts, server and manager on duty in our section were first class! We enjoyed the food, especially the Flank Steak! It was outstanding! with an exception- the Charcuterie board was a disappointment. Please be mindful when ordering that this is a Tapas restaurant (small plates) so ordering a few at a time is a winning strategy. Also, reservations will be helpful because they get and stay full and n the evenings."

The Best Restaurants In Old Town Alexandria, Virginia - Washington DC

You can pretend it’s always summer at Barca Pier & Wine Bar, thanks to the restaurant’s waterfront location that hovers directly over the Potomac and its seafood-centered menu. Barca could lean into its locale and go full-on mid-Atlantic with its menu, but the dishes are rooted in Catalonian and Mediterranean cuisine, and we love them for that. This is our go-to for a mid-afternoon meal of tapas and Spanish sparkling wine—get the patatas bravas, seared scallops, and Catalan-style mussels.
