Reviews Summary

Porto's Bakery and Cafe is a highly-regarded Cuban bakery celebrated for its exceptional pastries, cakes, and sandwiches. While the lines can be long, the efficient system and reasonable prices make the wait worthwhile for many. Some diners note that while the food is generally delicious, consistency can sometimes be an issue with older vs. newer recipes.

"Oh what an experience! I wish they had more of these types of eateries everywhere! Beware, you will love it but it will be busy! There's plenty of dining area, just order and sit and enjoy. No reservations, just be prepared to stand in line for a bit, order a fancy coffee drink, some food, and then just wait for your food and sit with some friends and enjoy the ambience. My sister got a free fruit tart because we all met there for her graduation lunch. I recommend you try everything there, there's something for everyone.
I've tried the ropa vieja sandwich (eat it right away bec the bread will be soggy, it's so tender and great!)
The chicken milanesa is such a delicious and healthier alternative (love the plate lunch)
For my vegetarians, try the soups and the feta sandwich
Pastries: please try the famous cream cheese danishes, they are simply the best
The besitos are little cookies with caramel filling (I feel like they can be shared bec they are super rich)
The chocolate danish pastries are great for my chocoholics looking for something light.
The Churro croissant was so good that I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it.
We've ordered their milk and berries cake (tres leches) and it's not too heavy on the leches, very spongy, very good!
I ordered their cheesecake with fresh strawberries which was ok, nothing to write home about
Their mango mousse cake was a hit for my mango lovers
And if you want to make an impression for the next party, bring a box of their meat pie empanadas and a box of their cheese rolls (cream cheese pastries)
I try to go every time I'm in the area! Chefs kiss all the way!"

"Porto's is one of those rare places where the hype is actually justified. Their Berries and Cream and Parisian Chocolate Cake are absolutely divine — rich, balanced, and worthy of every single calorie. Easily a 5-star experience on the dessert front!

Lunch is no slouch either — the sandwiches are fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The Chicken Cilantro plate was a pleasant surprise — light, tasty, and comforting.

Yes, the lines are long, but they move surprisingly fast thanks to a well-oiled system. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle, but with a little patience (and maybe a couple laps around the parking area), you’ll find a spot.

It’s a bustling, vibrant place perfect for a snack, a quick lunch, or picking up an epic cake for any celebration."

Sushil Premjani

"Love love love Portos!!
One of the must visit/stop whenever we’re in LA visiting our friends. I make sure to grab few of the these goodies back home again.☺️
The cheese rolls are incredible, along with the chocolate croissant, cookies.
On my recent trip I tried their breakfast guacamole cheese along with an almond croissant. Taste was good and the portions were great.
I would love to try their shipping options."

Ever since I lived in Long Beach and was a 10 minutes drive from their Downey location, this bakery has had a permanent spot on my best places to eat list. Now that they’ve opened a Buena Park location in OC, I’m often tasked with grabbing some potato balls, chicken croquettes, fruit tarts, and all the other tasty treats for family parties. If you don’t want to wait in their typical line out the door, I recommend ordering online for pick-up to make things easier.

(Vegetarian) There's nothing quite as satisfying as a warm bowl of soup and Porto's does it well with the lentil and vegetable soup. A hearty, vegetarian soup that's slow-cooked with lentil, onion, carrot, celery, turnip, butternut squash, and potato, it is finished with sautéed Tuscan kale, parmesan cheese, and extra virgin olive oil. Served with a toasted slice of Porto's sourdough baguette, this is a filling meal any time of day.
